1. INTRODUCTION-
Swiggy is India's largest online food ordering and delivery platform,
founded in 2014. Swiggy is based in Bangalore, India, and as of March 2019,
was operating in 100 Indian cities. In early 2019, Swiggy expanded into
general product deliveries under the name Swiggy Stores. Swiggy is around
in 300+ cities across india. The founders of this company are Nandan
Reddy, Sriharsha Majety and Rahul Jaimini. Companies CEO is Mr. Sriharsha
majesty, COO is Mr. Vivek Sunder. Bundl Technologies Private Limited is the
parent company of Swiggy. https://www.swiggy.com/ is the URL. Current
status of Swiggy is Active. Revenue in 2020 of the company was about rs.
2776 crore (US$390 million). In September 2019, Swiggy launched instant
pickup and drop service Swiggy Go. The service is used for a diverse array of
items, including laundry and document or parcel deliveries to business
clients and retail customers.

2. ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE-
Artificial intelligence (AI) is the ability of a computer or a robot controlled
by a computer to do tasks that are usually done by humans because they
require human intelligence and discernment. Although there are no AIs
that can perform the wide variety of tasks an ordinary human can do, some
AIs can match humans in specific tasks.

THE CHALLENGES AND THE SOLUTIONS ARE AS FOLLOWS-
 Challenge 1- How to reduce waste in the system by reducing
delivery partner waiting at the restaurant for Food to be prepared?
SOLUTION-
DELIVERING ON TIME BY JUST IN TIME
 Created a system for an assignment of order to deliver partner
Just In Time as the food prep is completing
 Predicted food prep time for restaurants
 Predicted first mile journey time for DP
 Dynamic reshuffling of assigned order to best DP near to prep
IMPACT-
DELIVERING ON TIME BY JUST IN TIME
 Reduction in DP wait time by -25%
 Improved utilization of fleet by unlocking next order
assignment
 Ensured late arrival of DP had no impact on consumer
delivery time

 Challenge 2- How to ensure that consumers have a good assortment


and quality of restaurants available near them for delivering food?
SOLUTION-
UNDERSTANDING NEEDS, FULFILLING GAPS
Built and connected together multiple strategic frameworks and
models
 Framework for discovering cuisine/category gaps for
restaurants across geography/time
 Brand Selection model to rank order ‘best’ brands in each
cuisine

 Location identification model to optimize where to open
kitchen

 Challenge 3- How to convert consumer intent into action by


personalizing the product proposition?
SOLUTION-
ONE SIZE DOES NOT FIT ALL
Multiple intelligent solutions have been created and experimented
with to personalize the recommended set and ranking of restaurants
to maximise conversion
 Content-based utility function to score and rank
similar/popular restaurants within hyperlocal/time of day
context to ones already transacted on
 Classification methods to predict probability of transaction
with a given restaurant at a given rank position within
recommended list
