Exercise 2: (6.5pts) Rectilinear motion of a moving object

The figure below shows the motion of an object on a horizontal and inclined plane in two phases of motion.
The time between any two consecutive dots is τ = 100ms.

A: Motion between A0 and O

During the first phase the body reaches the point A0 with a speed V0 moving along the horizontal plane.

1. Referring to the figure and without any calculations, specify the nature of motion between A0 and O.
2. a) Determine the instantaneous speed of the object at the instants t1 and t3 during the passage at points
A1 and A3 respectively.
b) Determine the acceleration of the object at time t2 during the passage at A2.
c) Deduce the type of motion.
d) Deduce the speed of the object at A0 and at O.
B: Motion between O and B

Upon the arrival of the object at point O with a speed VO it continues its motion along the inclined plane OB until

it stops at B. The point O is considered as the new origin of abscissa and the instant when the object passes through

O as the origin of time. On the axis Ox the position x = OM is given in the following table:

1. Calculate the average speed of the body between t2 and t5.

2. a) Determine the instantaneous speed of the body at the instants t1, t2, t3, t4, t5.

⃗ 2.
b) Write down the characteristics of the velocity vector 𝑉

3. a) Determine the instantaneous acceleration at the instants t2, t3 and t4.

b) Write down the characteristics of the acceleration vector 𝑎2.

4. Specify whether the motion is accelerated or decelerated.

Exercise 3 :( 2.5pts) Average speed

A car leaves Beirut at 12:00 and reaches Saida at 12:37. The distance between Beirut and Saida is 45Km.

1) Indicate the times of departure and arrival of the car and deduce the duration of the trip.

2) Calculate the average speed of the car.

3) The car continues its motion to the South of Lebanon and attains a village (K) at 1:16.

Calculate the distance covered between Saida and the village (K) knowing that the average speed of the car

between Saida and the village (K) is equal to 72.973Km/h.
