Fairchild Enhancements Progress Report

Purpose of Report
The purpose of this report is to update our client Balfour Beatty Communities
(BBC) on the progress of the requested yard enhancements and sod projects for
Fairchild AFB located in Airway Heights, WA. A list of enhancements was received
by the Davey Tree Project Manager on January 12, 2021. This report is written on
May 18, 2021. Sod will be purchased through Basin Sod and each enhancement
will be scheduled for demolition on Tuesdays and sod installed the following
Friday.

January
 Measurements were taken at 231 Sycamore & 894 Utah on Jan. 29.
 A quote was drafted and sent to the Grounds Manager for BBC Jan. 30.

February
 Basin Sod was contacted, and orders were placed for Sod.
 Quote was accepted by BBC on Feb. 9.

March
 Followed up with Basin Sod about back orders for sod on Mar. 15.
 Informed Client (BBC) of changes to schedule Mar. 15.

April
 Yard prepped for sod at 231 Sycamore Apr. 6.
 Sod Purchased from Basin Sod and installed Apr. 9. Resident was not home,
but watering instructions were left at the door.
 894 Utah rescheduled for demolition due to resident being unaware thus
unprepared for our arrival.
 Yard prepped for sod at 894 Utah on April 19.
 Sod purchased and installed on April 23.

May
 Yards measured and quotes drafted for sod install at 946 Utah, 983 Dakota,
and 958 Dakota May 1.
 Quotes were sent to BBC May 3.
 Quotes approved by BBC on May 5.
 Contacted Basin Sod, product is on back order as of May 5.
 946 Utah yard demo and sod install planned for May 24.

June
 Till and level 983 & 958 Dakota planned for June 15.
 Install sod at 983 Dakota scheduled for June 18.
 Install sod at 958 Dakota scheduled for June 19.

Problems Encountered
 Quotes could not be made for sod enhancements in early to mid-
January due to snow covering the yards.
 Resident at 894 Utah was unaware of the sod install, and the yard
was covered with dog waste and toys. This forced us to reschedule
for the following week.
 Due to Covid, Basin Sod was struggling to acquire shipments of sod
rolls. This forced us to reschedule our remaining installs for June.

Conclusion
 Covid has had an impact on our operations. Basin Sod had been back
ordered due to their supplier running on short staff.
 We have been shorthanded as well but have scheduled demolitions and
installs for our two lighter days of the week and have had no issues
completing both scheduled mowing services as well as yard enhancements.

Recommendations
 Place sod orders earlier to ensure we will be the first to receive new
shipments.
 Have a Housing Specialist from BBC send email reminders to all residents
who are scheduled for sod installation.
 If client (BBC) places more work orders for enhancements, we will call for
additional support from our division on Travis AFB in California.
