A. Purpose of assessment
This assessment will develop your skills and knowledge required to lead and manage effective workplace
relationships.
All tasks of this assessment require you to use the provided case study information relating to the
fictional company Highpoint Consulting.

Task A requires you to read the case study scenario provided below on Highpoint consulting, then
answer the following questions.
You are a Team Leader at Highpoint Consulting, a large business firm that provides advice to
businesses and other organisations around the world. You lead a high performing team who all get
along well. The culture of your team is best described as ‘come in, work hard, get the job done and go
home’.
The layout of the Highpoint office you work in is open plan spread across two wings that are
connected by a large staff room. Although it wasn’t intentionally planned this way, the office wing
where your team is located is the quieter of the two. The quieter environment works well for your
team as they need to be able to concentrate and prefer fewer distractions. You share this wing with
teams from the finance, compliance and reporting divisions and you all get along well.
One Thursday you receive a phone call from the CEO. Due to the finance and compliance teams
growing, your team needs to move desks over to the other side of the building – the noisy side – by
close of business tomorrow. This is not open for negotiation.

Initially I would send a memo to my colleagues and team to inform them about this change. After
informing them through memo, I will brief them in a face-to-face meeting about the alignment of

Usually, conflicts arise when there is a high amount of dysfunction between two people, which
impacts the organization within. Regarding this matter, I will speak to team members individually to
resolve their conflicts and to listen their issues / problems personally in order to bring them together.
As they are a team and have to work together with efficiency to achieve particular goal to benefit
organization. I will draw up a plan as everyone has their own reasons and opinions so I would seek to
find a common ground in what is being said by employees. Moreover, I will conduct follow-up review
meetings to determine whether the conflicts and issues raised had been resolved or not.

B1. Explain the benefits of consulting with your team members on issues and decisions that will

Consultation with the team members about their safety concerns have a positive impact on the
workplace management. Conducting a consultation are directly affected by a situation involving the
health and safety of employees and team members. By doing consultation team members get the
opportunity to express and contribute their views towards the decision relating to their own safety
concerns as well as for the organization. As for the movement of desks, this decision is taken without
consultation s=and will affect the team members in workplace because this must be discussed with
them prior to the change done.
