THE AUSPICIOUS LAMP OF NECTAR

A Concise Ceremony of a Wealth of Offerings

to the One Thousand Buddhas of this Fortunate Eon

By Zhechen Gyaltsap Pema Namgyal

FT
Namo guru buddha bodhisattvaya
Homage to the gurus, buddhas, and bodhisattvas!

Due to their special motivations, victorious ones

become protectors for this long-suffering world.
Bowing to the one thousand buddhas of this fortunate eon,
I will compose a concise ceremony of a wealth of offerings.
RA
This ceremony has three parts: the preparation, the main ceremony, and the
conclusion.

Preparation

Arrange whatever offerings are available in the presence of the

representations (if possible, paintings or other representations of the one
thousand bliss-gone ones). Then, beginning with the will to be free of
D

samsara and with great compassion, recite the prayers of refuge and
bodhicitta:

those near and far.

and are able to do so, adopt an extensive approach by arousing the relative
aspect of bodhicitta according to the ceremonies found in the two major
traditions of the vow, and arousing the ultimate aspect according to
Nagarjuna’s tradition. For a concise approach, as a preparation recite the

following vow of refuge three times:

acceptance and will ensure this enlightened activity, and imagine that the
result actually comes about just as you intended in your dedication. If you

In composing the foregoing, I have taken the prayer of aspiration entitled A
Lamp of Auspiciousness, from the cycle Lama Gongpa Düpa (Gathering of the
Intent of the Gurus), and altered the wording somewhat. This was finished on
an auspicious day during the waxing moon of the first month (which
commemorates the Buddha’s miracles) in the water dog year [1922], at
Demchok Tashi Gepel, my personal residence at the retreat center of
Zhechen Monastery. Good fortune!
