to the One Thousand Buddhas of this Fortunate Eon

Due to their special motivations, victorious ones

become protectors for this long-suffering world.
Bowing to the one thousand buddhas of this fortunate eon,
I will compose a concise ceremony of a wealth of offerings.

This ceremony has three parts: the preparation, the main ceremony, and the
conclusion.
Preparation
Arrange whatever offerings are available in the presence of the

representations (if possible, paintings or other representations of the one
thousand bliss-gone ones). Then, beginning with the will to be free of

samsara and with great compassion, recite the prayers of refuge and
bodhicitta:

in the buddhas, the dharma, and the most sublime assembly.

Through the merit of generosity and other such deeds,
DRO LA PEN CHIR SANG JAY DRUP PAR SHOK
may I attain buddhahood for the sake of beings.
(Recite three times.)
Cultivate the four immeasurable attitudes with the following:

May all beings have happiness and the causes of happiness.

May they not be separate from true happiness that is without sorrow.

May they abide in supreme impartiality, free of attachment and aversion toward
those near and far.

Through the truth of the Three Jewels, the sources of refuge,

through the blessings of the victorious ones and their heirs,
TSOK NYI NGA TANG CHÖ YING DAG TOP CHI
through the mastery of twofold spiritual development and the pure power
of the basic space of phenomena,
NÖ CHÜ DE CHEN ZHING GI KÖ PAY Ü
the animate and inanimate universe are the pure realm of bliss.
YI TROK NOR BUI ZHAL MAY KANG CHEN POR
In the center of this, within an immeasurable mansion of gems,

which captivates the mind,
RIN CHEN SENG TRI NYI DA PAY DEN SOK
are jewelled lion thrones and seats of lotuses, sun disks, and moon disks,
NGÖ SHAM ZUNG RIK MÖ TOP CHI TRUL PAY
May this be filled with vast arrays of clouds of offerings to be enjoyed,
CHÖ TRIN JA TSÖ GANG ZHING CHÖ JUR CHIK
whether material or created by mantras and in the imagination!
Consecrate the site, meeting hall, shrine articles, and so forth with the
foregoing and by reciting the dharani mantras of the “treasury of space,”

the “clouds of offerings,” and so forth.

To invite the host of those to be honored, recite the following with one-
pointed intent:

Serving as protectors to all beings without exception,

you are the divine ones who vanquish the relentless maras and their hordes.
NGÖ NAM MA LÜ JI ZHIN CHEN JUR PAY

Knowing all things just as they are, without exception,
CHOM DEN KOR CHAY NAY DIR SHEK SU SOL
you are the transcendent and accomplished conquerors: Approach this site, I pray!
TUN PAY GAY TSOK MÖN LAM MAY JUNG WAY
Through your shared gathering of virtue and superb aspirations
MI JAY JIK TEN ZHING GI PAL JUR PAY
you are the glory of this long-suffering world;
KAL ZANG SANG JAY TONG TSA TUK JAY CHEN
you compassionate buddhas of this fortunate eon, one thousand and more,

From their respective realms, due to their prior spiritual perfection,

the tathagatas actually approach, moving through space with their supremely
miraculous powers.

Within the immeasurable mansion, on an enormous and extensive jewelled throne
supported by eight lions, on a seat formed of a silken cushion, a lotus, a sun disk,
and a moon disk,
TÖN PA CHOM DEN DAY DAY ZHIN SHEK PA DRA CHOM PA
YANG DAK PAR DZOK PAY SANG JAY PAL SHAKYA TUB PA

is the Teacher—the transcendent and accomplished conqueror, the one gone

to suchness, the conqueror of the inner foe, the completely and perfectly awakened

buddha Shakyamuni.
KUN DOK SER TSO MAY DOK TA BU
His form is the color of molten gold.
CHAK YAY SA NÖN YÖN NYAM ZHAK DZAY PA
His right hand touches the earth, his left rests in his lap.

He is adorned with the thirty-two primary
PAY JAY ZANG PO JAY CHÜ TRAY SHING
and eighty secondary marks of perfect form.
TRUL PA KUI CHA LUK CHEN DU ZHUK PAY YAY SU SHA RI BU
He sits wearing the raiment of the nirmanakaya, with his two spiritual sons—
YÖN DU MONG GAL JI BU NYI ZHENG PA
Shariputra standing on his right and Maudgalyayana on his left.

CHAK NA SEK SHANG DANG LHUNG ZAY NAM PA
In their hands they bear mendicant’s staffs and almsbowls.
TRUL KUI CHA LUK CHEN
They, too, wear the garb of the nirmanakaya.

These are the three principal figures,

surrounded by the Buddha’s spiritual children—all buddhas and bodhisattvas
of the ten directions,

and especially the one thousand buddhas and two bodhisattvas who are guides
in this long-suffering world during this fortunate eon.

In addition, there are vast assemblies of gurus, chosen deities, dakinis, and

oath-bound guardians,

MÖN LAM LA WANG ZHING
as well as wordly and transcendent gods and seers who have power over their
aspirations and whose words become truth.
DEN PA DRUB PA CHAP NAY KÖN CHOK JA TSO MA TSANG WA
MAY PA NAM CHEE KOR NAY ZHUK PAR JUR
The Buddha is surrounded by these retinues—an enormous assembly of all

rare and precious sources of refuge, entirely complete.
Having imagined that, begin your actual process of spiritual development.

Initially, in order to further the reinforcement of your merit, recite the
following:

I pay homage to the transcendent and accomplished conqueror, the one gone

as well as to the entire range of buddhas and bodhisattvas who dwell in the ten
directions throughout the three times, without exception.

With devotion, I pay homage to all the rare and precious Jewels.

Homage! The teacher of gods and humans is the buddha, the transcendent

the sacred dharma is the sublime approach to the state of peace free of passions;

the exalted sangha is serves as a field for our spiritual development:

I pay homage to the Three Jewels, sources of refuge.

The roots of blessings are the gurus of the lineage;

the sources of all spiritual attainments are the hosts of peaceful and wrathful
chosen deities;

the masters of enlightened activities are the dakinis and dharma protectors:

with devotion, I pay homage to them and to all who are worthy of honor.
As well, offer the entire seven branches of honor with the following:
JI NYAY SU DAK CHOK CHUI JIK TEN NA
In as many worlds as there are throughout the ten directions
DÜ SUM SHEK PA MI YI SENG GAY KUN
are those most majestic of human beings, who reach enlightenment throughout
the three times.

To all of them without exception

Through the power of this prayer of aspiration to noble conduct,

I call all victorious ones to mind, as though they were actually present,
ZHING GI DUL NYAY LÜ RAB TÜ PA YI
and pay utmost homage to all victorious ones,
JAL WA KUN LA RAB TU CHAK TSAL LO
bowing with as many replicas of my body as there are atoms in the universe.
DUL CHIK TENG NA DUL NYAY SANG JAY NAM
On a single atom are as many buddhas as there are atoms,
SANG JAY SAY CHI Ü NA ZHUK PA DAK

dwelling in the midst of the heirs of the buddhas.
DAY TAR CHÖ CHI YING NAM MA LÜ PA
I thus imagine that the basic space of phenomena
TAM CHAY JAL WA DAK GI GANG WAR MÖ
is entirely filled everywhere with victorious ones.
DAY DAK NGAK PA MI ZAY JA TSO NAM
With all the inexhaustible reservoirs of praise to them,
YANG CHI YEN LAK JA TSOI DRA KUN JI
and with all delightful melodies
JAL WA KUN JI YÖN TEN RAB JÖ CHING

I speak of the qualities of all victorious ones

DAY WA SHEK PA TAM CHAY DAK GI TÖ

and praise all those who have gone thus to bliss.
MAY TOK DAM PA TRENG WA DAM PA DANG
With offerings of exceptional flowers, fine garlands,
SIL NYEN NAM DANG YUK PA DUK CHOK DANG
musical instruments, rare ointments, sublime parasols,

excellent lamps, and sacred incenses
JAL WA DAY DAK LA NI CHÖ PAR JI
I honor these victorious ones.
NAM ZA DAM PA NAM DANG DRI CHOK DANG
With fine raiment, sublime fragrances,
CHAY MA PUR MA RI RAB NYAM PA DANG
rare powders piled as high as Sumeru,

KÖ PA CHAY PAR PAK PAY CHOK KUN JI
and everything that is in elegant array,
JAL WA DAY DAK LA NI CHÖ PAR JI
I make offerings to these victorious ones.
CHÖ PA GANG NAM LA MAY JA CHAY WA
I also imagine that any and all offerings that are unsurpassable
DAY DAK JAL WA TAM CHAY LA YANG MÖ
are presented to all these victorious ones.

Through the powers of my faith in noble conduct,

I pay homage to all victorious ones and honor them with offerings.

Under the influence of desire and attachment, aversion, or stupidity,

whatever harmful actions I have committed,

whether physically, verbally, or mentally,
DAY DAK TAM CHAY DAK GI SO SOR SHAK
I acknowledge them all individually.
CHOK CHUI JAL WA KUN DANG SANG JAY SAY
Whatever merit there may be—of all victorious throughout the ten directions,
RANG JAL NAM DANG LOB DANG MI LOB DANG
or of the spiritual children of the buddhas, or of pratyekabuddhas,
DRO WA KUN JI SÖ NAM GANG LA YANG
RA
or of those still undergoing training or no longer needing training,
DAY DAK KUN JI JAY SU DAK YI RANG
and of all ordinary beings—I rejoice in all of this.
GANG NAM CHOK CHUI JIK TEN DRÖN MA NAM
All those who are lamps to illuminate worlds in the ten directions—
JANG CHUB RIM PAR SANG JAY MA CHAK NYAY
who have passed through the stages of enlightenment and found the passionless
state of buddhahood—
GÖN PO DAY DAK DAK GI TAM CHAY LA
I entreat all of those protectors

to turn the unsurpassable wheel of dharma.

to all those who are preparing to pass into nirvana

that instead they remain for as many eons as there are atoms in the universe.
CHAK TSAL WA DANG CHÖ CHING SHAK PA DANG
Through paying homage, presenting offerings, acknowledging faults,
JAY SU YI RANG KUL ZHING SOL WA YI

rejoicing, entreating, and praying,

whatever little virtue I have gathered thereby,
TAM CHAY DAK GI JANG CHUB CHIR NGO WO
I dedicate it all toward enlightenment.
Then, in order to deepen your experience of timeless awareness, if you wish

and are able to do so, adopt an extensive approach by arousing the relative
aspect of bodhicitta according to the ceremonies found in the two major
traditions of the vow, and arousing the ultimate aspect according to
Nagarjuna’s tradition. For a concise approach, as a preparation recite the

following vow of refuge three times:

Until I reach the very heart of enlightenment,

I take refuge in the buddhas.

and in the assembly of bodhisattvas.
Recite the following lines three times for the main process of arousing
bodhicitta as aspiration and application:

Just as sugatas of the past
JANG CHUB TUK NI CHAY PA DANG
aroused the motivation of bodhicitta,
JANG CHUB SEM PAI LAB PA LA
and just as they continued progressively
DAY DAK RIM ZHIN NAY PA TAR
in the training of a bodhisattva,
DAY ZHIN DRO LA PEN DÖN DU
so too, in order to benefit beings,
JANG CHUB SEM NI CHAY JI ZHING

do I arouse the motivation of bodhicitta,

DAY ZHIN DU NI LAB PA LA’ANG

and so too will I train

progressively in the training.
Recite the following lines as a concluding phase of meditating on your own

At this point my life has become fruitful;
MI YI SEE PA LEK PAR TOB
I have truly attained my humanity.
DAY RIN SANG JAY RIK SU CHAY
This day, I am born into the family of buddhas;

I have now become an heir to the buddhas.
DA NI DAK GI CHI NAY CHANG
Now, come what may,
RIK DANG TUN PAY LAY TSAM TAY
I must begin acting in a way befitting my family.

I will act in such a way as not to bring disgrace
NYOK PAR MIN JUR DAY TAR JA
on this flawless and venerable family.

Just like a precious jewel being found

in a pile of sweepings by a blind person,

so too, as though by chance,

has bodhicitta awakened in me.
DAK GI DAY RING CHOB PA TAM CHAY CHI
Today, in the presence of all who provide refuge,
CHEN NGAR DRO WA DAY SHEK NYI DANG NI
I have called upon beings to attain the state of bliss
BAR DU DAY LA DRÖN DU BÖ ZIN JEE
and, in the interim, to enjoy happiness.
LHA DANG LHA MIN LA SOK GA WAR JEE
RA
Gods, demigods, and others, rejoice!
Recite the following:
GANG ZHIK CHEN LAY CHAY PA DAY MA CHAY

Whatever is produced from circumstances is unborn;
DAY LA CHAY WAY RANG ZHIN YÖ MA YIN
it does not have origination in its very nature.
CHEN LA RAK LAY GANG DAY TONG PA NYI
Whatever depends on circumstances is emptiness;
GANG GI TONG NYI SHAY DAY BAK YÖ YIN

it is prudent to know of what it is empty.

With this, arouse the ultimate aspect of bodhicitta and rest as much as
possible in the state of equalness free of elaboration. Following this, recite
prayers of aspiration as usual:
JANG CHUB SEM NI RIN PO CHAY

Bodhicitta is precious.
MA CHAY PA NAM CHAY JUR CHIK
May it awaken in those in whom it has not yet awakened.
CHAY PA NYAM PA MAY PA DANG
May it not wane in those in whom it has awakened.
GONG NAY GONG DU PEL WAR SHOK
May it increase to a greater and greater extent.
JANG CHUB SEM DANG MIN DRAL ZHING
RA
May I not be separate from bodhicitta,
JANG CHUB CHÖ LA ZHOL WA DANG

but apply myself to the conduct of a bodhisattva,
SANG JAY NAM CHEE YONG ZUNG ZHING
be completely guided by buddhas,
DÜ CHI LAY NAM PONG WAR SHOK
and reject the activities of the maras.
JANG CHUB SEM PA NAM CHEE NI
May the intentions in the minds of bodhisattvas

DRO DÖN TUK LA GONG DRUB SHOK

for beings to benefit be realized.

Whatever these protectors intend,

may that be so for beings.

May all beings be endowed with happiness.
NGEN DRO TAM CHAY TAK TU TONG PAR SHOK
May all lower states of rebirth be forever emptied.
JANG CHUB SEM PA GANG DAK SAR ZHUK PA
Whatever bodhisattvas dwell on levels of realization,
DAY DAK KUN JI MÖN LAM DRUB PAR SHOK
may the aspirations of all of them be realized!

The next stage is that of the special activity of reciting the names of the
buddhas and offering them homage. Recite the following seven or twenty-
one times, or as many times as is appropriate:

PAR DZOK PAY SANG JAY PAL JAL WA SHA KYA TUB PA SOK KAL
PA ZANG POY SANG JAY TONG TSA NYI DANG
I pay homage to the transcendent and accomplished conqueror, the one gone to
suchness, the conqueror of the inner foe, the completely and perfectly awakened
buddha, the glorious victor Shakyamuni, and to the rest of the one thousand and
two buddhas of this forunate eon,

Caring for beings in times of degeneration with supreme compassion,

You are praised like the white lotus, and to hear your names ensures that we do not
