I can tell that American culture is so
different from our country; their
cultural habits are nothing like ours.
Did you know that the buses here
are always on time? On the first day I want to school, I missed the bus because I was late.
yesterday, I was late again, and I went home by foot with Michael, who is in my literature class. I
was ready to go for it and cross the street fast. Fortunately, Michael showed me the right way to
cross the street; you just have to push the button at the pedestrian crossing and cars stop to let
you walk through. That´s very convenient if you ask me! Everything is so confusing sometimes.

VI. Read the last part of Josefina´s text and then write the main idea and examples.

last year I was an exchange student in Chicago, so I will tell you about the contrast
between Mexico´s and American´s school life.

In Mexico most schools ask students to wear an uniform, whereas in U.S.A students rarely
wear an uniform. Another difference is that Mexican school sell food, while in the U.S.A schools
provide the lunch. A similar thing is that both Mexican and American students like recess time and
hanging out with their friends. American girls like writing busybody booklets and Mexican girls also
like that too.

“HALLOWEEN”

The closest thing to the Mexican day of the dead “Día de Muertos” in the U.S.A would be
Halloween, which is celebrated on October 31st. This is festivity involves trick-or-treating, going to,
________________, visiting ______________, houses, and carving _______________.

________________ is the most common activity, where children dress as witches, ghosts or
________________ and knock on neighborhood doors in search for __________. If children
receive no candy at a particular house, they play a trick on the people who live there. One such
trick is coloring in the house´s peephole with eyeliner. Some children make funny faces while
others perform magical ____________ such as making one of their fingers disappear. Every
Halloween I carve a pumpkin into a __________ and put a candle inside to light it up. Halloween is
