Work Done is preferably written in the impersonal

passive. The company is more interested in what was
done, not who did it. So, that explains why the
impersonal passive is used.

Work Done: (Impersonal Passive – past tense)

➢ Arrangements were made for soil testing (moisture, gravity, and Proctor’s test)
➢ The surrounding areas were inspected for water, sewage, and disposal facilities.
➢ The environment was thoroughly studied to see whether the unit posed any
environmental issues.
➢ Transportation facilities were examined for further movement of goods/ consignment.
➢ Availability of manpower along with other facilities (hotels, hospitals, clinics) was also
checked.

Findings (Elaboration of Work Done – simple present)

➢ The soil testing results clearly reveal that the land is suitable for construction, but the
height of the building cannot be more than three storeys.
➢ The water level is found adequate and the underground sewage system is good. But
there is no proper provision for disposal.
➢ There aren’t many houses nearby and the houses are at a safe distance from the
proposed site.
➢ The site is near the highway, which connects to cities like Chennai, Salem, Madurai,
and Tirunelveli.
➢ Many locals who live nearby may be employed as cleaning and maintenance staff.
➢ Hotels and hospitals are at a distance of 2 kms from the site. There are two within 15
minutes of the site.

Recommendations
Advantages: (Elaboration of the Findings)
➢ The land is well-suited for building construction and some of the leading builders are
ready to come forward to clinch the deal.
➢ There is consistent water supply that will aid us in every way. Further/ In addition,
an underground sewage system will facilitate better hygiene in and around the place.
➢ Since the houses are at a safe distance from the site, there will be no room for complaints
related to environmental hazards or pollution from the residents.
➢ Transportation of goods to and from cities will be easier since the site is less than two
kilometres’ distance from the highway.
➢ The company does not have to spend a lot on advertising for manpower.
Limitations/ Shortcomings and Solutions: (Elaborating on the Findings)
➢ There must be special provision made for waste disposal as the site doesn’t offer scope
for it. It is suggested that the concerned departments hold a meeting with the authorities
concerned for a more feasible solution.
➢ The site is distanced from the city and is quite far from the bus stand, railway station,
or airport. Therefore, it is necessary to have a tie-up with some of the reputed hotels
situated near the highway so that middle and upper management personnel may be
lodged there when they come to visit the site.
➢ We must have an ambulance van ready to transport staff to the hospital in case of an
emergency. It would be better to also set up a medical team in the premises.
Conclusion:
Based on the findings and the greater advantages involved, the team recommends/ I hereby
recommend the site for construction of the manufacturing unit.
