 Threading of lock stitch machine
Abstract
In this practical we observe the mechanism of threading in lock stitch machine and
perform that in the supervision of lab in charge. Simply we took a thread from thread or cone
stand assembly and put that thread in a sequential manner. Threading of lock stitch machine is
very simple. There is one needle and two thread used in this practical one thread is for needle
and the second thread is for bobbin. Needle is responsible for upper stitch and bobbin is for
lower stitch.

Introduction
Threading of a sewing machine is not as difficult as it may seem. Many times
when problem arise during stitching that is because of improper threading of machine. Stitching
is can be define as the assembling of the various parts of the fabric together. lock stich is an
important stich type among all the stiches and use for the stitching of the various parts of the
fabric so that it can be wearable. In this lab we studied different machine parts their working and
the function was studied. In a lock stitch machine, the needle pulls a loop of thread through the
fabric, rises again as the feed dogs move the fabric along, and then pushes another loop in. But
instead of joining the different loops together, the stitching mechanism joins them to another
length of thread that unspools from the bobbin.

Procedure/ Threading

Bring the thread around the upper thread guide. Traveling from spool holder across the top of
the machine, insert the thread into the thread guide.
Now bring the thread downward to the tension mechanism, slip the thread between the metal
disks of the tension mechanism and then guiding the thread towards thread guide.
Bring the thread up to the thread take up lever and pass that thread from the eye of the lever.
Now pass that thread from the thread guide against the take up lever and then move that thread
downward and pass through the hole which is present in the clamp of the needle.
In the last step thread is passed through the eye of the needle.

All the steps perform from right to left but enter the thread into needle from left to right.

Discussion
Lock stich is an important stich type among all the stiches and use for the stitching
of the various parts of the fabric so that it can be wearable Just as in a lock-stitch machine, the
needle pulls a loop of thread through the fabric, rises again as the feed dogs move the fabric
along, and then pushes another loop in. But instead of joining the different loops together, the
stitching mechanism joins them to another length of thread that unspools from the bobbin.
Conclusion
So the threading of lock stitch machine is done. And we achieve the objective of
this experiment, that was how to thread lock stitch machine.
