1.5.1 D350-607-413 Heavy Duty Lid Kit (Long): Converts a D350-607-543 Heli-Utility-BasketTM
(lightweight lid) into a D350-607-541 Heli-Utility-Basket TM (heavy duty lid).
1.5.2 D350-607-415 Heavy Duty Lid Kit (Short): Converts a D350-607-547 Heli-Utility-BasketTM
(lightweight lid) into a D350-607-545 Heli-Utility-Basket TM (heavy duty lid).

1.5.5 D350-607-431 Strut Retrofit Kit: The D350-607-431 Strut Retrofit Kit can be procured from
Dart for operators of D350-607-541/-543/-545/-547 Baskets which are not equipped with the
D350-607-431 Strut Retrofit Kit. Installation of the D350-607-431 Strut Retrofit Kit increases the
cargo carrying capacity of the D350-607-54X Heli-Utility-BasketsTM by 100 lbs as per Table 1
that follows as long as the aircraft is equipped with high landing gear.
1.5.6 D350-607-501 Conversion Kit: The D350-607-501 Conversion Kit converts a D350-607-441/-
443/-445/-447 Basket into a D350-607-541/-543/-545/-547 Basket.
For -543/-547 baskets @ CHG 009 or later, mesh has been added between the webbing straps to help
restrain smaller items. The -503/-505 Lightweight Lid Webbing Replacement Kit has the mesh
incorporated into the design. As such, operators of -543/-547 @ CHG 008 or earlier that wish to have this
feature may procure the -503/-505 Lightweight Lid Webbing Replacement and install it as a “Retrofit” Kit.
The components in the Dart kits are as defined in the Tables located in Sections 5.0, 6.0 and 7.0 of these
instructions. For convenience, only the last three digits of the part number are listed on the top row of
each table. The quantity of each component which is included in the D350-607-541 Heli-Utility-Basket,
for example, is as defined in the column labelled -541.

Compatibility of this installation with the aircraft is the responsibility of the installer. Ensure that this
installation does not conflict with a previous modification.
CONTINUING AIRWORTHINESS
This installation should be maintained in accordance with the Instructions for Continued Airworthiness
ICA-D350-607.
WORKMANSHIP
Unless otherwise stated, all workmanship should be to the standard set by the Aircraft Maintenance
Manual as well as standard practices outlined in AC43.13-1B & 2B.

3.1.9 To convert a basket ready for LH installation into a RH installation, or vice versa, remove the
following parts from the basket base: D4148-041 Fwd X-Tube Lug Assy, D4149-041 Aft X-Tube
Lug Assy, D4150-041 Attachment Arm Assy, D4151-041 Basket Fwd Hardpoint Assy (Lower),
D4151-043 Basket Fwd Hardpoint Assy (Upper), D3912-041 Eyebolt Receiver Assy, MS17984-
C413 Quick Release Pin and D2690-6 Lanyard. Retain parts and hardware. Reinstall all the
parts by following Steps 3.1.1 through 3.1.6.
NOTE 2: At the installer’s discretion, the D4713-1 Spacer may be installed as shown in Figure 8
to reduce vibration.
3.2.1 When installing the D350-607-54X Basket in conjunction with Dart D350-591-121/-122 Steps, it
may be necessary to relieve the Step clamps as shown in Figure 7.
3.2.2 Per Figure 1, prop the basket at the appropriate height onto the aircraft crosstubes.
3.2.3 Attach the basket with (qty 2) D3910-3 X-Tube Lug, (qty 1) D3910-5 X-Tube Lugs,
(qty 1) D3910-7 X-Tube Lug and (qty 8) D3984-030 Rubber Extrusion using AN4 hardware as
shown in Figures 4 and 5. Leave bolts loose to allow for adjustment.
3.2.4 At the aft crosstube position: Install (qty 2) D4776-3 Skidtube Clevis onto the crosstube
saddles in accordance with Figure 6a. Note that the installation differs for installation on
OEM or Dart crosstube saddles, refer to Figure 6a. Torque fasteners on Dart saddles to
50-70 in-lbs (5.6 – 7.9 N-m). Torque fasteners on OEM saddles per applicable aircraft
maintenance manual.
3.2.5 At the aft crosstube position: Adjust the rod end bearing in the D4775-041 Strut Assembly to the
appropriate length. Install (qty 2) D4775-041 Strut Assemblies and hardware as shown Figures
6a. Check the witness holes located at the bottom end of the D4775-041 Strut Assemblies to
ensure that the thread from the rod end extends past the witness hole. Torque MS21042L4/-4
nuts to 50-70 in-lbs (5.7-7.9 N-m). Torque MS21042L6/-6 nuts to 160-190 in-lbs (18.1-21.5
N-m).
3.2.6 At the forward crosstube position: Transfer mark from the upper hole on the clevis of the
D4775-041 Strut Assembly to the D3910-7 X-tube Lug and drill thru the lug Ø0.257-Ø0.261
as shown in Figure 6b. Touch up chemical conversion coating per MIL-DTL-5541. Check the
witness holes located at the bottom end of the D4775-041 Strut Assembly to ensure that the
thread from the rod end extends past the witness hole. Torque MS21042L4/-4 nuts to 50-70
in-lbs (5.7-7.9 N-m). Torque MS21042L6/-6 nuts to 160-190 in-lbs (18.1-21.5 N-m).
3.2.7 Tighten hardware once height (see Figure 1) is verified and MS17984-C413 Quick Release Pins
slide out and in without difficulty. Torque MS21042L4/-4 nuts to 50-70 in-lbs (5.7-7.9 N-m).
Torque MS21042L6/-6 nuts to 160-190 in-lbs (18.1-21.5 N-m).
3.2.8 Update the aircraft log book to indicate installation of the D350-607-5XX kit and adjust weight and
balance record for the aircraft with the weight and balance data provided in section 4.0 of this
document.

3.4.2 Properly align and engage D3912-041 Eyebolt Receiver Assy onto D4149-041 Aft X-Tube Lug
Assy per Detail B of Figure 4. Allow the basket to slide onto D4149-041 to a complete stop. A
"click" should be heard as the D3801-1 Spring Plunger locks into place. Test that it has engaged
by lifting up.
3.4.3 Disengage/remove MS17984-C413 Quick Release Pin from D4148-041 Fwd X-Tube Lug Assy.
Lift the forward end of the basket and properly align D4151-041 Basket Fwd Hardpoint Assy
(Lower) and D4151-043 Basket Fwd Hardpoint Assy (Upper) onto D4148-041 Fwd X-Tube Lug
Assy per Detail A of Figure 5. Allow the basket to slide onto D4148-041 to a complete stop.
Secure in place using MS17984-C413 Quick Release Pin.
3.4.4 At the aft end of the basket, disengage the MS17984-C413 Quick Release Pin. Flip the D4150-
041 Attachment Arm Assy so the hole at the tip of it aligns with those in D4149-041 Aft X-Tube
Lug Assy. Lock into place using the same MS17984-C413 Quick Release Pin (may need to lift
basket to achieve hole alignment).

To replace a basket lid with a heavy duty lid or a lightweight lid using the D350-607-413/-415/-417/-
419 Kits, use the following procedure:
3.5.1 If desired, remove the basket from the aircraft per Section 3.3.
3.5.2 Open lid for ease of removal of D3969-3 Gas Spring while fully extended.
3.5.3 Remove MS24665-300 Cotter Pin and detach end of D3969-3 Gas Spring mounted to the existing
lid by unfastening AN310C4 Castellated Nuts. Retain D3953-3 Gas Spring Stud and D3953-7 Gas
Spring Spacer and D3953-9 Gas Spring Washer. Refer to Figures 2, 3 and 7 as applicable.
3.5.4 Remove lid by removing (qty 3) MS24665-151 Cotter Pins and unfastening (qty 3) each AN310-4
Castellated Nuts, AN4-12 Bolts and washers.
3.5.5 Install D3914-041 or D3915-041 or D4018-041 or D4019-041 Basket Lid Assembly as applicable
using (qty 3) each AN310-4 Castellated Nuts and AN4-12 Bolts and (qty 6) NAS1149F0432P
Washers per Figure 7. Secure Castellated Nut with MS24665-151 Cotter Pins per MS33540 or
AC43.13 Chapter 7.127.
3.5.6 Attach loose end of D3969-3 Gas Spring to new lid using D3953-3 Gas Spring Stud and D3953-7
Gas Spring Spacer (removed at Step 3.5.3), D3953-9 Gas Spring Washer, NAS1149C0432R
Washer and AN310C4 Castellated Nut per Figures 2, 3 and 7 as applicable. Secure Castellated
Nut with MS24665-300 Cotter Pin per MS33540 or AC43.13 Chapter 7.127.
3.5.7 Install D4086-X or D4917-X Placard as applicable in accordance with Table 2 (see Section 3.1.7)
and at the location shown in Figure 5.
3.5.8 If basket was removed from aircraft, re-install per section 3.4.
3.5.1 Update the aircraft log book to indicate installation of the D350-607-5XX kit and adjust weight and
balance record for the aircraft with the weight and balance data provided in section 4.0 of this
document.

IMPORTANT: Installation of the D350-607-431 Strut Retrofit Kit on aircraft equipped with Dart
saddles requires that hardware shown in Figure 6 fastening the crosstubes to the Dart saddles be
reversed in order to prevent interference with the D4775-041 Strut Assembly. This must be done
prior to the installation of the D350-607-431 Strut Retrofit Kit (See Figure 6). To use the D350-
607-431 Strut Retrofit Kit, the aircraft must be equipped with high gear.
3.6.1 Remove the lower (qty 2) D3910-3 X-Tube Lugs and replace with qty (1) D3910-7 X-Tube Lug on
the Fwd Crosstube per Figure 6a and qty (1) D3910-5 X-Tube Lug on the Aft Crosstube per
Figure 6b.
NOTE: It is acceptable to reuse the existing hardware as well as the D3984-080 Rubber
Extrusion. However, they should be inspected for suitability for continued service. Replace if
necessary.
3.6.2 Install (qty 2) D4776-3 Skidtube Clevis on the inboard side of each skidtube saddle in
accordance with Figure 6. Note that the installation differs for installation on OEM or Dart
skidtube saddles, refer to Figure 6. Torque fasteners on Dart Skidtubes to 50-70 in-lbs
(5.6 – 7.9 N-m). Torque fasteners on OEM skidtubes per applicable aircraft
maintenance manual.
3.6.3 Install (qty 2) D4775-041 Strut Assemblies as shown in Figure 6. Adjust the rod end to
achieve the proper installation length. Check the witness holes located at the bottom end of
the D4775-041 Strut Assemblies to ensure that the thread from the rod end extends past the
witness hole. Torque fasteners to 160-190 in-lbs (18.1 – 21.5 N-m).
3.6.4 Remove the existing D4086-X Placard and replace with D4917-X Placard as per Table 3
below.
NOTE: On later change number baskets, the D4086-XXX and D4917-XXX placards should be
applied using the placard’s self-adhesive and then riveted to the basket using MS20600AD4W3
rivets.
