4.1 KM 275 SERVOMOUNT

The mechanical mount for the KS 270 and KS 271 Servo Actuators is the KM 275 Servo Mount. Since the
Servo Hount is separate from the Servo Actuator, this allows ease of removal and maintenance of the KS
270 and KS 271. Through appropriate cables wrapped around the capstan, it transmits the output of the KS
270 and KS 271 to the aircraft control cables. The KM 275 is equipped uith an overpouer slip clutch
adjustable over a torque range from 10 to 70 inch-pounds. This allows the pilot manual authority over
the KS 270 and KS 271 in the event of servo failure.

4.2 KM 276 SERVOMOUNT

The mechanical mount for the KS’272, KS 273 Trim Servo Actuators is the KN 276 Servo Mount. Since the
servo mount is separate from the servo actuator, this allows ease of removal and maintenance of the trim
servo actuators. Through appropriate cables wrapped around the capstan, it transmits the output of the
KS 272, KS 273, to the aircraft control cables. THe KM 276 is equipped with an overpower slip clutch
adjustable over a torque range from 10 to 70 inctrpounds. This allows the pilot manual authority over
the servo actuators in the event of servo failure.

4.3 KM 277 SERVOMOUNT

The mechanical mount for the KS 272, KS 273 servo actuators is the KM 277 servo mount. Since the servo
mount is separate from the servo actuator, this allous ease of removal and maintenance of the trim servo
actuators. Through the appropriate chain connected to the output sprocket, it transmits the’ output of
the KS 272, KS 273 to the aircraft controls. The KM 277 is equipped with an overpouer slip clutch
adjustable over a torque range from 10 to 70 inch-pounds. This allous the pilot manual authority over
the servo actuators in the event of servo failure.

ILLUSTRATED PARTS LIST

The Ittustrated Parts List CIPL) is organized basically in the following three divisions, Bill of
Material (200-XxXx-XX), Parts Layout (300-XxXx-XX), and the Electrical Schematic Diagram (002-XxXx-XX).
The IPL may also contain the Final assembly or sub-assembly drawings.

The Assembly drauings reference their mechanical parts uith a King Part Number CKPN). Electrical parts
are referenced by their circuit designators (i.e. CR402, R908, etc.). Each Assembly parts List is
assembled so that mechani cat parts are first, in numerical part number order and electrical parts are
second in circuit designation order.

The follouing unusual numbers may appear at times on the BOM and are for commentary purposes only.

Example 1:

CR401 999-9999-99 DO NOT USE

The component designator CR401 had been previously used on the

assembly and then deleted; therefore, it cannot be reassigned.

Example 2:

CR401 999-9999-98 NOT USED

The component designator CR401 is available for future assignment

and is not presently a part of the PC board/Final assembly.

Example 3:

CR401 999-9999-97 SEE NEXT ASSEMBLY

The component designator CR401 is used as part of the electrical

circuit assembly but because of assembly or testing requirements
may be part of another assembly.

CR401 999-9999-96 RESERVED

The component designator CR4Bl is reserved for future usage.

UNIT/BOARD VERSIONS

The BOM is arranged to show the Unit or Board version from left to right across the top of the BOB
starting with the version -00.

The -00 through -XX are variants of a particular board assembly. Those parts that are peculiar to that
particular board or assembly are shoun in a vertical column directly below the -00 through -XX version.

(Optional -99)

The -99 version is a Listing of all the parts that are common to a board or unit assembly C-00 through

SECTION
VI
MAINTENANCE
6.1 GENERAL
The purpose of this section is to provide useful procedures for test and alignment of the KM 275, KM 276,
and KM 277 Servo Mounts. Check the aircraft strapping diagram in your aircraft’s specific installation
manual to determine the servo mount part number and torque setting required for each axis of the
aircraft . If the servo mount vi11 not meet the following test and alignment requirements, because of a
slip clutch malfunction or excessive parts wear, refer to the illustrated parts list for replacement
parts. Refer to parts lists of pages S-l, 5-5, and 5-9. If a slip clutch malfunction has been verified a
replacement slip clutch assembly should be ordered from King Radio due to special buildup and burn in
procedures used on the slip clutch assemblies at the factory.

6.2 TEST AND ALI6NMENT

6.2.1 GENERAL

The fixtures and tools required to perform the following adjustments are supplied with the KTS 150 Flight
Line Test Set. A torque wrench (not supplied) is needed to perform the following adjustments. The
torque wench should be a snap-on TEP-6FUA or equivalent with a 318 inch socket. The following test and
alignment procedures should be performed once a year minimum to assure proper servo mount operation.

6.2.1.1 KM 275 Slip Clutch Torque Adjustment Procedure

a. Mount the KM 275 Servo Mount, minus the cable guard (KPN 073-0288-02) on the test stand
(071-6028-00) as shown in Figure 61.
Figure 6-1.

NOTE

BE SURE TO TIGHTEN ALL FOUR NUTS HOLDING THE KM 275 ON THE TEST
STAND, DOHN FIRMLY. FAILURE TO DO SO CAN CAUSE UISALIGNMENT
BETYEEN PINION ON TEST STAND MD OUTPUT GEAR ON SERVO MOUNT. THIS
CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO PINION AND MOTOR ON TEST STAND.

b. Place the adapter tool CKPN 071-6021-03) over the capstan and insert the positioning pin
CB71-6021-02ICfrom the staight up position) to secure the adapter tool.

c. Insert the torque urench as shown in Figure 61.

Figure 6-1.

d. Apply 28VDC power to the test stand jacks.

e. Using the capstan rotation switch on the test stand, turn the test stand motor on in the CY
direction and read the torque on the wrench Callou clutch to slip 1 revolution minimum
before taking reading). Repeat this step in the CCU direction.

NOTE
THE TORQUE READING DESIRED IS THE CONTINUOUS ROTATION TORQUE.
THIS TEST SHOULD BE REPEATED THREE (3) TIMES IN EACH DIRECTION AND
THEN THE AVERAGE OF THE SIX (6) READINGS USED TO DETERMINE THE
TRUE TORQUE READING.

f. If the torque measured falls below the desired value, rotate the clutch adjust nut
clockwise. If the torque measured falls above the desired value rotate the clutch adjust
nut counterclockwise. After an adjustment, repeat the torque test (4.6 degrees of nut
rotation approximately equals 1 inch-pound of torque).

I CAUT’DN
YHEN ROTATING THE CLUTCH ADJUST NUT TO ADJUST SLIP CLUTCH, DO NOT
BACK DRIVE MOTOR ON TEST STAND. HOLD URENCH, USED TO TURN NUT,
STILL AND LET THE MOTOR LOOSEN OR TIGHTEN NUT. BACK DRIVING THE
MOTOR YILL GREATLY REDUCE ITS LIFE.

6.2.1.2 KM 276 SLip CLutch Torque Adjustment Procedure

a. The fixtures and tools required to perform these adjustmens are supplied with the KTS 150
Test Set.

b. Remove the cable guard and the clutch-capstan asembly from the capstan plate.

c. Mount the clutch-capstan assembly in the holding fixture 071-6017-01 and clamp the fixture
on a bench vise as shoun Figure 6-2.
in Figure 6-2.

d. Mount the gear adapter 071-6018-06 on the assembly.

e. Using a torque urench (snap-on TEP-6FUA or equivalent), with a 3/4 inch socket attached,
check the setting by rotating the torque urench (attached to the gear adapter) and reading
the torque required to slip the clutch in both clockuise and counterclockwise directions.

NOTE

THE TORQUE READING DESIRED IS THE CONTINUOUS ROTATION TORWE AT

APPROXIMATELY 5 RPM. THIS TEST SHOULD BE REPEATED THREE (3) TIMES
IN EACH DIRECTION AND THEN THE AVERAGE OF THE SIX (6) READINGS
USED TO DETERMINE THE TRUE TORQUE READING.

f. If the level measured falls below the desired value, rotate the clutch adjust nut clockuise.
If the level measured falls above the desired value, rotate the clutch adjust nut
counterclockuise. After an adjustment repeat the torque test (6.5 degrees of nut rotation
is equal to approximatley 1 inch-pound of torque).

g. Record the slip clutch torque reading, aircraft type, axis and date on the decal affixed to
the slip clutch body.

6.2.1.3 KM 277 SLip CLutch Torque Adjustment Procedure

a. The fixtures and tools required to perform these adjustments are

supplied with the KTS 150 Test set.

b. Remove the clutch-capstan assembly from the capstan plate.

c. Clamp the clutch-gear assembly in a bench vise that has rubber-covered

grips (to protect the gear teeth) as show Figure6-3.
in Figure 6-3.

d. Mount the gear adapter 071-6018-06 on the assembly.

e. Using a torque urench (snap-on TEP-6FUA or equivalent), with a 3/4 inch

socket attached, check the setting by rotating the torque urench
(attached to the gear adapter) and reading the torque required to slip
the clutch in both cLockwise and counterclockwise directions.
