11.1 Planning
Mod-Center to schedule planning sequence.

11.2 Avionics
All avionics installations must be performed in accordance the following documents:

1) AC43.13-1B CHG 1 Dated 9/27/01, Acceptable Methods, Techniques, and Practices – Aircraft
Inspection and Repair, Chapter 11 Aircraft Electrical Systems.

2) SAE AS50881, Wiring Aerospace Vehicle Rev A Dated 2000-04.

3) Manufacturers Chapter 20 Standard Wiring Practices.

11.3 Structures
All structural installations must be performed in accordance with Cessna Citation Structural Repair
Manual, Chapter 51 standard practices.

12.0 WORK INSTRUCTIONS

12.1 PREPARATION

12.1.1 Ensure all power is removed from the aircraft.

12.2 GAIN ACCESS

12.2.1 Remove the radome to gain access to the avionics rack.


12.2.2 Open the pilots side baggage compartments and remove access panels to gain
access in these areas.

12.2.3 Remove panels as needed to gain access to work areas in the cockpit.

12.3 EQUIPMENT REMOVALS


12.3.1 Remove the existing Air Data Computer, equipment tray and retaining hardware and
return to stores for disposition.
12.3.2 Remove the old air data computer connector, P322, pull back, cap and stow old
ADC wiring in accordance with standard practices.
12.3.3 For Aircraft with a Pilots side combined Rad Baro Altimeter:
Remove the Rad Altimeter Converter, equipment tray and retaining hardware and
return to stores for disposition.
12.3.4 For Aircraft with a Pilots side combined Rad Baro Altimeter:
Remove the old rad altimeter converter connector P880, pull back, cap and stow old
converter wiring in accordance with standard practices.
12.3.5 For Aircraft with a Pilots side combined Rad Baro Altimeter:
Remove Switch S804 (RadBar GS Disable Switch), Light 804 (GS DEV), L317 (Post
Light) and the RadBar Audio ON/OFF Switch (if installed) from the Center Instrument
Panel and cap and stow wiring per standard practices.

12.3.6 Remove the Pilots altimeter and return to stores for disposition.
12.3.7 For Aircraft with a standard Pilots side Baro Altimeter:
Pull back, coil, bag and stow the pilots old altimeter connector, P337 in accordance
with standard practices.
12.3.8 For Aircraft with a Pilots side combined Rad Baro Altimeter:
Pull back, coil, bag and stow the pilots old altimeter connectors, P388 and P393 in
accordance with standard practices.
12.3.9 For Aircraft with a Pilots side combined Rad Baro Altimeter:
Remove speaker SPKR 10 and cap and stow associated wiring per standard
practices.
12.3.10 Depending on the location of the standby altimeter, remove all instruments from the
pilots or copilot’s instrument panel and retain for reinstallation.

12.3.11 Depending on the location of the standby altimeter, remove the pilots or copilot’s
instrument panel and route to the shop for disposition.

12.4 SHOP
12.4.1 Rework existing pilots or co-pilots instrument panel to a –1 or –2 configuration per
Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0345. Note that the –1 configuration modifies the
co-pilots side instrument panel for installation of the standby altimeter and the –2
configuration modifies the pilots side instrument panel.
OR
Request new instrument panel configuration from Star Aviation (251-650-0600).
12.4.2 Part mark the existing instrument panel “D-25-Y29-0345-1” or “D-25-Y29-0345-2”
using indelible black ink or other suitable permanent marking per MIL-STD-130, .125
inch high letters minimum.
12.4.3 If required, reinstall any equipment removed during panel modification and route the
D-25-Y29-0345-1 or -2 instrument panel to the aircraft for installation.
12.4.4 For aircraft with Rad Baro Altimeter, fabricate doubler using 0.040 inch clad 2024-T3
per Figure 1. Apply chemical conversion coating per MIL-C-5541, class 1A. Part
mark doubler with part number “EO-34-Y29-0037-1” using indelible black ink, or
other suitable permanent marking per MIL-STD-130, .125 inch high lettering
minimum. Match drill instrument panel to doubler, break all sharp edges, install
doubler using 4 each MS20470AD3 rivets. Apply finish to match instrument panel.

12.5 PITOT AND STATIC SYSTEMS MODIFICATIONS


12.5.1 Remove existing static system components in accordance with Star Aviation
Drawing D-34-Y29-0346.
12.5.2 Install new static system components in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing
D-34-Y29-0346, using the –101 Installation when the standby altimeter is relocated
on the copilots instrument panel or the –103 Installation if relocating standby
altimeter on the pilots instrument panel.
12.5.3 Remove existing pitot system components in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing
D-34-Y29-0346.
12.5.4 Install new pitot system components in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing
D-34-Y29-0346, using the –101installation when the standby altimeter is relocated
on the copilots instrument panel or the –103 instl if relocating standby altimeter on
the pilots instrument panel.
NOTE: Steps 12.5.5 thru 12.5.12 must be conducted at an ambient temperature of 50°
to 95°F. The aircraft does not need to be jacked or leveled to perform these steps.

12.5.5 Visually inspect to verify the absence of skin waviness, scratches or damage in the
RVSM critical region defined in Figure 3.
12.5.6 Verify entire inspection area meets all criteria found in the Cessna Model 500 Series
Structural Repair Manual, Chapter 51-00-03, Aerodynamic Surfaces – Description.
Repair any discrepancies found using standard procedures found in the SRM.

12.5.7 Accomplish the static port refinishing process specified in Appendix A of Star
Aviation Report No. R34-0206 “Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) Skin
Waviness Inspection Procedures for the Cessna Model 500/501 and 550/551
Citation Aircraft.
12.5.8 Map the skin of the aircraft in the RVSM Critical Region as specified in Star Aviation
Report No. R34-0206 “Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) Skin
Waviness Inspection Procedures for the Cessna Model 500/501 and 550/551
Citation Aircraft”
12.5.9 Compare the results of the skin mapping procedure from step 12.5.8 above to the
tolerances shown in Table 2 of Section 3.4 of Star Aviation Report No.
R-34-Y29-0151, Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for the Cessna Model
500/501 and 550/551 Aircraft Equipped With an RVSM Air Data System and Dual
Flight Directors and Qualified for Operations in RVSM Airspace. If the aircraft
exceeds the allowances in Table 2 contact Star Aviation at (251) 650-0600.
12.5.10 Place small permanent markings to the corners of the RVSM Critical Region defined
by Figure 3. These markings may be any shape or color; with the only requirement
that they are visible to an individual conducting an inspection.

12.5.11 Install placard P/N D-11-Y29-0344-25 or -26 in the location shown in Figure 3.
12.5.12 Verify that all placards or stencils are located outside of the RVSM Critical Area
defined in Figure 3.

12.5.13 Purge the pitot and static systems in accordance with AMM 34-11-00.

12.6 AVIONICS RACK EQUIPMENT PROVISIONS INSTALLATION


12.6.1 Install the D-25-Y29-0341-7 Angle and –9 Filler in accordance with Star Aviation
Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.6.2 Install two ground blocks P/N RBGB20-1 onto the D-25-Y29-0341-7 angle in
accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.6.3 Install two ground studs onto the D-25-Y29-0341-7 angle in accordance with Star
Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.6.4 Install the D-25-Y29-0341-101 Bracket Assy in accordance with Star Aviation
Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.

12.7 WIRING MODIFICATIONS

NOTE: USE STAR AVIATION DRAWING D-34-Y29-0353 FOR ALL A/C EXCEPT A/C 203.
NOTE: FOR A/C THAT CURRENTLY HAVE A REQUIREMENT FOR ONLY THE PILOT’S
PITOT / STATIC HEAT TO BE ON THE EMERGENCY BUS, REWIRE SO THAT
ONLY THE CO-PILOT’S PITOT / STATIC HEAT IS ON THE EMERGENCY BUS.
12.7.1 On the un-pressurized side of the FWD Pressure Bulkhead Disc. locate and
disconnect connector P350, pull back, bag and stow.

12.7.2 On the pressurized side of the FWD Pressure Bulkhead Disc. remove connector
J350 from the bulkhead; pull back, bag and stow.
12.7.3 Install and route the Dual AIU Harness Assy, P/N D-34-Y29-0340-1 or –5 in
accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-34-Y29-0343.
12.7.4 Terminate the following wires at ground block GN9000 using M39029/1-101 contacts
supplied with the D-34-Y29-0340-1 or –5 harness assy. Reference Star Aviation

12.7.47 Install a button plug in the location of the Removed Air Data Circuit Breaker. Paint to
match as needed.
12.7.48 For A/C with a Pilots side combined RadBar Altimeter
Fabricate the E0-34-Y29-0037-2 speaker assembly in accordance with Figure 2.
12.7.49 For A/C with a Pilots side combined RadBar Altimeter :
Install the E0-34-Y29-0037-2 speaker assembly in the location which speaker
SPKR 10 was removed.
12.7.50 For A/C with a Pilots side combined RadBar Altimeter:
Install and terminate the following wires:

12.9 AVIONICS RACK EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION


12.9.1 Install relay base P9507 and P9509, part of the D-34-Y29-0340-2 harness assembly,
in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0343.
12.9.2 Install relay P/N MS25329-D1 into relay base P9507 and P9509 in accordance with
Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.9.3 Install two AIUs P/N 9B-81040-26 in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing
D-25-Y29-0342.

12.10 FLIGHT DECK EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION


12.10.1 Install the D-25-Y29-341-11 relay bracket on the rear of the copilots instrument panel
in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.2 Install relay base P/N SO-1064-001 and relay P/N XD4N into the D-25-Y29-0341-11
relay bracket in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.3 Install copilots instrument panel, P/N D-25-Y29-0345-1 in accordance with Star
Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.4 Install and connect the copilots altimeter removed and retained in step 12.3.3 into
the location defined in Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.5 Install and connect all remaining instruments removed and retained in step 12.3.3
into their original locations on the copilots instrument panel.
12.10.6 Install and connect ADDU P/N 9D-80130-16 into the copilots instrument panel in
accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.7 Install the ADC System Select Switch P/N FK2000-551 into the copilots instrument
panel in accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.8 Install the ADC System Select Switch Placard P/N D-11-Y29-0344-16 in accordance
with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.9 Install and connect ADDU P/N 9D-80130-16 into the pilots instrument panel in
accordance with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.
12.10.10 If the aircraft has been equipped with an engine upgrade, install the
D-34-Y29-0344-35 Placards on the pilots and copilots instrument panels near the
Mach airspeed indicators. For all other aircraft discard placards.
12.10.11 Install RVSM Aux Circuit Breaker Panel, P/N D-25-Y29-0347-101 in accordance
with Star Aviation Drawing D-25-Y29-0342.

12.11 TESTING
12.11.1 Perform a leak check of the pitot and static systems in accordance with Cessna 500
Series Maintenance Manual 34-11-00.
12.11.2 To perform a check of the Rad Alt system do the following:

1) Ensure the DH Knob of the Pilots and Copilots ADI is set to 150 feet.
2) Press the Test Button on the Pilots ADI and ensure the following:
A.) The Rad Alt display on the ADI shows that the RT had a successful self test by
displaying and altitude of approximately 100 feet..
B) The DH aural alert is activated and the DH light is illuminated.
3) Repeat step 3 from the copilots altimeter.

12.11.3 Accomplish RVSM Air Data System Operational Test, R-34-Y29-0153.


12.11.4 Accomplish Section 3.5 Air Data System Accuracy Check of Star Aviation Report
R-34-Y29-0151 Instructions for Continued Airworthiness for the Cessna Model
500/501 and 550/551 Aircraft Equipped with an RVSM Air Data System and Dual
Flight Directors and Qualified for Operations in RVSM Airspace.

Note: This can be done in conjunction with step 12.11.3 above and must be done
at an ambient temperature between 50° and 95°F.

12.12 CLOSE UP
12.12.1 Close all panels and doors opened to perform the installation of the RVSM Air Data
System.
