Moderation In Modern Arabic Literature

Studying Tawfiq Al-Hakim Works As A Model

This study is titled: (Moderation In Modern Arabic Literature

Focusing On Tawfiq Al-Hakim's Works As A Model)

This analytical study has looked into the issue of moderation in

Arabic literature, in the heritage of Tawfiq al-Hakim. It included
an introduction, three chapters including sub-sections, and a
conclusion. The introduction has included the most prominent
studies and previous researches, which had dealt with the
literary and intellectual works of Tawfiq al-Hakim, on both
critical and technical level, and the study dealt in the first
chapter with the moderation concept, and the chapter entitled
"conceptual approach", I have spoken about the concept of
moderation lingual and idiomatically, then the concept of
moderation in the Arab-Islamic thought. The second chapter
was titled "Moderation as a theoretical concept according to
Tawfiq al-Hakim", in which I have dealt with moderation and its
principles on Tawfiq al-Hakim's works," then I dealt with "parity
and Al-Hakim's doctrine in thought and literature," then I talked
about the "parity and the human being rank or status in the
universe, "and then with "parity and the human being rank or
status in the society ", the third chapter came with an applied
study on Tawfiq Al-Hakim's Heritage of the theater, novel,
biography and short story ..), and it is titled: "Moderation as
practical and applied in Tawfiq Al-Hakim's works, and I dealt
with his works in "the intellectual theater", then "the rest of
other plays," and finally dealt with "Moderation in his other
narrative works," that are in theater, novel and short story, and
biographies. Then I summed up the results in the finale, that
showed Tawfiq Al-Hakim as one of the leaders in prose writing
in modern literature, he has controlled language and knew its
secrets, and had the qualifications of the writer and critic at
once, that helped him writing in different literary writings
(story, novel, play, letter and biography..) He is a writer,
storyteller, novelist, political and social critic, and this helped
him to deal with different fields of science, arts and widely read
in various cultures.

I have found that the book of parity which he used for

Moderation, is considered one of the most important
philosophical and literary books that written by him. That book
has included his outlook of life (religious, cultural, political,
social, and literary) in the modern era.

Among the results I found that Tawfiq Al-Hakim through the

study has criticized the Arab mentality at several levels
(cultural, religious, social, literary)

One of the important results in this research, is that Tawfiq Al-

Hakim may sate his theory analytically through different literary
genres he has addressed, we glimpse the parity and its
applications clearly in the story, novel, drama,essays and
biography as well.
