1. Description of task-
Secondary source Investigation- Le chatelier’s principle

Chemical equilibrium-
When the rate of forward reaction is equal to backward reaction, whereas the number of reactants and products remains equal then that
reaction is said to be in chemical equilibrium. For example, the reaction of hydrogen iodide in closed container in chemical equilibrium is-
H2+ I2⇄2HI

Le Chatelier’s principle- discovered by Henri Louis Le Chatelier and Karl Ferdinand Braun.
o Le Chatelier’s principle can be used to predict the behaviour of a system due to changes in pressure, temperature, volume or
concentration.
o Le Chatelier’s principle suggests that the addition of heat to a reaction will favour the endothermic direction of a reaction as this
reduces the amount of heat produced in the system.
o Increasing the concentration of the reaction will drive the reaction towards right, while increasing the concentration of products will
drive the reaction towards left.

Task
Step 1-You are given two equilibrium reactions from which you can choose any for investigation
- Reaction of baking soda and vinegar
- iron(III) thiocyanate and varying concentration of ions

Step 2- A3 Poster-You have to (increase/decrease) the

- concentration
- pressure
- temperature
- volume
of your chosen chemical reaction and outline the respective changes on an A3 size poster referring to collision theory, activation
energy, equilibrium, and position of equilibrium.
Note 1-You must model your chemical reaction on an A3 poster showing before and after with respect to one of the stresses either pressure,
volume, or concentration.

Note2- a reference list should be included with respect to APA 6 style in the end.
