Just about every Monday, Dolores Dur-
nell stops by the Navy-Marine Corps Re-
lief Society (NMCRS) Thrift Shop at
Naval Base Ventura County Port Huen-
eme.
With her 1-year-old daughter, Rebecca,
growing fast, the E6 from Naval Mobile
Construction Battalion 3 has found the
thrift shop to be an economical way to
keep her family well-dressed.
“Every week I’m here looking at chil-
dren’s clothes,” Durnell said.
And she’s not alone.
Last year, an average of 32 people vis-
ited the thrift shop each day, with daily
sales averaging $425. In all, $35,195 was
raised for other NMCRS programs, such
