Host
How to play
1. Choose five quarantined friends/houses to play with (1
location = 1 player, i.e. one house has 3 housemates in it,
they become a team and all video call and solve the mystery
together).
2. Select a time and date to play, gameplay is roughly 3 hours.
Ahead of time, allocate and share character info with players.
Pick your own character. Player information sheets inform
players how to play as the game progresses.
3. Ahead of time, prepare a group chat (like WhatsApp) and a
group video chat. During the game, players can start private
chats and video calls, but as the host you must organise the
“all player” calls.
4. Open your character document (and instruct your players to do
the same) and read the instructions on the first page. You’ll
be given background information on your character and their
relationship to the other characters. You’ll also be given a
pre-game task. Make sure to complete this before the video
call begins.
5. A recommended amount of time for one round is 45 minutes. As
the host, you must pick a time duration and set an alarm.
Between rounds there should be 15 minutes where players are
allowed to exit all videos and confer privately with their
teammates about the information gathered during the round.
6. To submit an accusation, a player must write it in a Google
Doc and upload it to the group chat (not the video one).
Players should not read others’ accusations until the end of
the game.
7. Once the round three timer goes off, the game is over. As the
host, you will open everyone’s accusations, assign points for
the secret tasks, read out the answer key, and name a winner.
If no one correctly guesses the murderer, the murderer wins
the whole game, regardless of points.
8. It is recommended to share the point scoring with players so
they know what they can do throughout the game.
