You will hear five short conversations. For each question, choose the correct picture.
F: Nice to meet you, John. I hope you’re enjoying the party. So, are you from here?
M: No, I come from Australia, but I work here in China. I really like living here.
F: I work in China too, and in Japan.
M: I like Japan, I was there last week. I went to a great restaurant in Shibuya, in Tokyo.

M: I really like this shopping centre. There are so many good shops!
F: I know. I like it too. And some of the clothes are really cheap. I bought this dress.
M: It’s lovely. I like the colour. How much did it cost? About forty pounds?
F: It was fifty pounds, but I think that’s a good price. And these jeans were forty-five pounds.

M: Your mum and dad are so interesting Elena. How did they meet? Were they at school or
university together?
F: They both went to university, but they went to different ones. It’s really funny. They met
when they were both parachute jumping!
M: What!
F: It was their first lesson and they fell in love! It’s unusual, I know. Most people meet each

F: Wow, Dermot! That was a long run! Twenty kilometres. Well done!
M: I know. I’m tired, dirty and hungry. But I’m happy! All at the same time!
F: What are you going to do first? Have a nice hot shower or something to eat?
M: A shower I think. After that some of your lovely chicken soup. And then, I’m going to
bed for a good, long sleep.

You will hear a woman called Megan talking about her holiday in Dublin.
F: Some people like beaches, and some people like the mountains, but I love holidays in
cities.
I spent a week in Dublin in Ireland. That was two months ago. It was an interesting city
and next time I’m going to stay for two weeks.
All the seasons in Dublin are beautiful. Most visitors go in spring or summer, but I went in
autumn. I don’t like hot weather and the colours of the trees were lovely.
I stayed at the Camilla Hotel. It’s not cheap and the rooms are not very big. So why did I
stay at the Camilla Hotel? Well it’s very near the station and I walked there from the train.
My favourite meal wasn’t dinner. I ate in a different restaurant every evening. The food
was OK not very good or very bad. But the hotel breakfast was really great fruit,
cereal, meat, fish…I was never hungry for lunch!
I bought some presents in Dublin too. I got my brother a camera. Usually I buy him a T-
shirt or a book, but it was his birthday. He was very happy with it!

You will hear a man called Andy talking about a summer school for teenage students.
M: Hello, my name’s Andy and I’m going to talk about our summer school. It’s called Henley
Summer School and it’s for students in their summer holidays. Our students come from
three different countries each summer we have students from Italy, Spain and Brazil.
The students are usually between sixteen and eighteen years old. The school is about
twenty five kilometres from London and we often take students there at the weekend.
The school starts in June and finishes in September, but students usually stay here for
about two weeks.
In the morning, the students study English. The lessons are fun and the students really
love them. Lunch is from twelve o’clock to one o’clock. And then in the afternoon, they
have sports lessons. These finish at four o’clock.
