7 Primary Fundamental Movements

Research has discovered the most important movements when it comes to

moving the human body, these movements are known as primary movements.
The movements were discovered by observing a baby:

A baby is lying in it’s cot and starts discovering the first primary fundamental
movement ROTATION by looking from side to side. The baby is then able to
roll all the way over and starts to discover he can PUSH himself up. Tucking
his knees under his little body using the HINGE movement, he discovers
LOCOMOTION moving towards the side of the cot and realises he can PULL
himself up against the side of the cot to stand, he brings one leg forward into
a LUNGE. Once the baby wants to sit down holding onto the side of the cot he
goes into a SQUAT.

Fitness Instruction Now you know the most important movements in fitness and why these
movements are vital to muscle and bone health.

Myths about Fitness & Fitness Professionals:

Getting stronger does not have to involve pain, a good fitness programme
developed by a professional trainer will monitor your exertion levels to assess
how your recovery mechanisms are working.

MYTH 3. A fitness professional will make you lose weight

You are responsible for your own health and fitness. A professional trainer can
coach you to weight-loss but ultimately the success or failure will lie with you.
Set SMART goals and you will be one step closer to achieving your fitness goals.
Your goals should be specific, measurable, attainable, realistic and time-based.
Creating and maintaining a fitness programme is hard work, if you have not set
realistic goals then you will have difficulty achieving them.
