GCSE Latin Grammar Revision

Syllabus

The Latin syllabus requires that you are familiar with the following areas of Grammar:

- The endings taken by regular nouns and adjectives of the various declensions, and the
formation of the comparatives and superlatives of regular adjectives and adverbs.
- The conjugations of regular verbs, except for present and perfect subjunctive, future passive
infinitive, and supine.
- The declension of the pronouns in the Defined Vocabulary List.
- The endings taken by the irregular nouns and verbs which appear in the Defined Vocabulary
List.
- The endings taken by the irregular adjectives and adverbs which appear in the Defined
Vocabulary List, including the irregularly formed comparatives and superlatives which are
listed separately in the Defined Vocabulary List.

Most of these are given on the Grammar Card, which you have been given.
The pages below form a brief revision course, through which you should work

Method

Study carefully the forms given in the programme above.


Then take the test given on the pages which follow. A number of prepositions have also been
included with the nouns: you must learn these as well, if you do not know them. Make sure,
however, that you can also identify the Case and Number of each noun given, whether or not
it is with a preposition.
