Activity 8: Final Output

While some students are participating in sports and exercising on their own now that remote
learning is well started at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, not everyone maintains their
fitness without the assistance of professors and school leadership. With this, Physical Education
courses are in session at all school levels. Moreover, taking the Group Exercise at 7 o’ clock in
the morning was one of the biggest decisions I have never regretted. Why is that so?

I have realized that the biggest advantage of group exercise course is that I was given the
opportunity to meet new people and possibly establish new friends and this is such a huge
social advantage. Some people may be hesitant to exercise because they are uncomfortable
doing so alone; therefore, a class is an excellent way to overcome this barrier. Another
wonderful social advantage of group exercise is the chance to enhance and use your social
skills. Skills like teamwork, leadership, and communication may be required depending on the
type of activity you participate in. Though, given that we are on a virtual learning, it may be hard
sometimes to reach out to your groupmates to have their videos be submitted, I was not
disappointed that they were able to submit it as tasked. It might be tough to find the drive to
exercise at times. After a long day at work, getting out of bed early or going to the gym might be
difficult. One of the advantages of group fitness sessions is that they give you with the
necessary drive to exercise. The class discussions were useful in that we mostly addressed the
positive effects of the group exercise and also the consequences if not taken properly, which
was rich of information and piqued my interest in continuing to participate in the activities I
performed to meet this course’s requirements as I was motivated to have an active lifestyle in
this class. We have tackled lots of things but one lesson that I have liked the most and had the
most fun in doing was Zumba. I was able to dance after a few long months of this pandemic and
given that I was the one who edited most of our group videos, I have seen my classmates’
videos, too and I admit that I had countless laughs while watching those videos, and it was
great.

On the other note, similar to all classes around the world, our class meets virtually one time
a week every Friday morning and being the shortest. At each day, students listen to lessons
being discussed and are given assignments, individually or by group, to complete throughout
the week. This is highly different from before, since in pre-pandemic times students would only
meet once every three weeks in person while independently completing assignments on a
weekly basis. Now, the only difference is that participants meet on MS Teams for the in-person
gathering. My only issues with distance learning are connectivity issues and technological
problems, which are often not the fault of students. Physical Education requires active
participation and movements from students, and it is difficult for teachers to assign participation
grades when cameras are not turned on. But in this course, the professor made it easier for us
and would only require the cameras turned on at the end of class for a group picture. With the
help of the professor, we have embraced our routines and we are doing our best each day. Still,
I hope that this course can be taken also after the pandemic because it is best experienced on
campus with classmates.

It was simply wonderful. I honestly feel that this Group Exercise provided me with so much
that I had not anticipated. It was not just a course about a single topic; it covered a lot of ground.
Furthermore, because everyone in the class has at least one thing in common is we like the
lessons and visiting a class created a sense of community.
