Chapter 1

Introduction

1.1 Background of the Study

Today many different types of technology have been

invented. Some of the technology it seeks to help and

improve the daily lives of every person. One of the

great inventions of the time was the computer, which

people currently use to communicate, facilitate work

and play various games.

Computer or often called PC (Personal Computer)

which consists of two parts the hardware (Hardware) and

software (Software), the first part is Computer

hardware in the form of tools that can be seen and held

such as: monitors, keyboards, mouse, printer, CPU

(Central Processing Unit) and all the devices in it.

The second part which is no less important is the

software in the form of a collection of instructions in

the form of codes in machine language that can be run

by a computer system, this software consists of

operating system and application programs.

PC Building Simulator aims to teach even the most

novice PC user how their machine is put together with

step-by-step instructions explaining the order parts

should be assembled and providing useful information on

what each part is and its function.

1.1.1 Narrative Listing of the Existing System

The Irregular Corporation and Romanian independent

developer Claudiu Kiss created a Pc Building Simulator.

The game is centered around owning and running a

workshop which builds and maintains PCs, mainly gaming-

oriented ones.

Furthermore, Pc building simulator was initially

released for early access in March 2018 on Steam. The work

of Claudiu Kiss was to help those people who intend to build

their own dream computer. Almost all work involves

computers, however, understanding of computers in the

community is still very minimal. To master computer science,

in addition to formal education, it can also be done by

taking non-formal education through courses, even self-

taught can be self-taught.

1.2 Statement of the Problem

This research was focused on the resolving the following

problem.

1. Lack of knowledge in technology, especially computer

equipment, both in terms of hardware or software.

2. To figure out what are the procedures for disassembling

computers and components

3. To determine the safety of electrical components of

computer.

1.3 Research Objectives

1.3.1 General Objective

This research aims to create a Pc Building

Simulator app that will help students learn the use of every

part of computer.

1.3.2 Specific Objectives

The researchers specifically aim to create a Pc

Building Simulator app that aims to:

1. identify to apply this following interaction design in

the application:

1.1 usability goals

1.1.1 effective to use (effectiveness)

1.1.2 efficient to use (efficient)

1.1.3 safe to use (safety)

1.1.4 easy to learn (learnability)

1.1.5 easy to remember on how to use (memorability)

1.2 user experience goals

1.2.1 helpful

1.2.2 enjoyable

1.2.3 satisfying

1.2.4 entertaining

1.2.5 fun

1.3 application design goals

1.3.1 Designing for Performance (writing efficient

Android code)

1.3.2 Designing for Responsiveness (avoiding ANR)

1.3.3 Designing for Seamlessness (coexisting with other

applications)
2. identify other features that users want to include in the

application;

3. find out;

1.4 Scope and Limitations of the Research

This study is primarily focused in developing Pc

Building Simulator app and will not discuss desktop

application. The main purpose of this study is to

provide information regarding computer assembly and

how important being aware on how to build a computer

nowadays. The respondents of this study are randomly

individuals who are planning to build their Personal

Computer. This study will be conducted at the

University of Eastern Philippines campus in the 2nd

semester, school year 2020-2021. The researchers will

make use of the cooperation of the respondents in the

data gathering of this study.

1.5 Significance of the Research

This study will be undertaken to find out how helpful

and to determine the effectiveness of the application.

Benefiting the study are the various sectors as follows:

Students. The application will give information to the

students on how to build a computer. Thus, students can also

use the application in designing their future computer that

will help in their academics.

Teachers. This will be beneficial to the teachers especially

those teachers who are not really aware about the parts of

the computer. Through this study, teachers may purposefully

discover how important computer awareness in buying or

building their own pc.

Computer Shop Owners. This study will be beneficial to the

computer shop owners especially those who are planning to

start a computer shop business. Here, they can get

information on what computer parts can they buy and build

depending on their budget.

Gamers and Streamers. Gamers and Streamers are the one who

usually use computers every day. Thus, this application can

help them in building and upgrading their gaming pc by

choosing the best high specs computer parts.

1.6 Definition of terms

Computer - an electronic device for storing and processing data,

typically in binary form, according to instructions given to it
in a variable program.
Simulator - a device that enables the operator to reproduce or
represent under test conditions phenomena likely to occur in
actual performance.
Case – A computer case, also known as a computer chassis, tower,
system unit, or cabinet, is the enclosure that contains most of
the components of a personal computer.
Motherboard – The motherboard is the main circuit board of your
computer and is also known as the mainboard or logic board.
CPU (Processor) – A central processing unit (CPU), also called a
central processor, main processor or just processor, is the
electronic circuitry that executes instructions comprising a
computer program.
GPU (Graphics Card) - A programmable processor specialized for
rendering all images on the computer's screen. A GPU provides the
fastest graphics processing, and for gamers, the GPU is a stand-
alone card plugged into the PCI Express (PCIe) bus.
RAM [Memory] - A programmable processor specialized for rendering
all images on the computer's screen. A GPU provides the fastest
graphics processing, and for gamers, the GPU is a stand-alone
card plugged into the PCI Express (PCIe) bus.
Storage Device (SSD, NVME SSD, HDD) - A peripheral unit that
holds data without power until purposely erased. Computer storage
comprises internal and external hard drives and solid-state
drives (SSDs).
PSU [Power Supply Unit] - converts mains AC to low-voltage
regulated DC power for the internal components of a computer.
Monitor - is an output device that displays information in
pictorial form. A monitor usually comprises the visual display,
circuitry, casing, and power supply.
Operating System - is system software that manages computer
hardware, software resources, and provides common services for
computer programs.
Mouse - is a hand-held pointing device that detects two-
dimensional motion relative to a surface.
Keyboard - is an input device that allows a person to enter
letters, numbers, and other symbols (together, these are called
characters) into a computer. It is one of the most used input
devices for computers.
