Philosophies
Leaders of Death Guard warbands follow doctrines of war honed over ten millennia, and are stubborn to the point of
obsession about the most effective path to victory. You can choose to use a philosophy from below, or from ones
found in the Heralds of Ruin Rule book (remember warbands are limited to one Philosophy per game).

++ Philosophies ++
Gain 1CP in your command phase if the number of models in your Warband is a
The Blessed Number
multiple of 7. If it is exactly 7, gain 2 CP instead.
+1 CP If your Warband includes at least one model with the Plague Follower
Vectors Innumerable keyword, at least one with the Bubonic Astartes keyword and at least one with
the Daemon keyword.

Stratagems
Death Guard Warbands employ attrition warfare tactics honed during the Great Crusade alongside sickening
applications of biological warp-fare. They have access to the following Stratagems in addition to the ones found in
the Heralds of Ruin rule book.

Stratagem Cost Description

Use this stratagem when a friendly Bubonic Astartes model is chosen to attack using a
Inevitable Fate 1CP
Plague Weapon. You may re-roll any of the Hit rolls when making those attacks.

Use this stratagem during your Shooting phase. Until the end of the phase, all friendly
Blight
3CP models equipped with Blight Grenades may use one, ignoring the Limited Supply rule from
Bombardment
the Shooting Phase chapter of the Heralds of Ruin rulebook.

Mired in Use this stratagem at the beginning of the Fight phase. Until the end of the phase, the
2CP Attacks characteristic of all enemy models on the battlefield is reduced by 1, to a
Despair
minimum of 1.

Use this stratagem when a friendly Death Guard model is slain. Do not remove the model
Putrid immediately. After the enemy model has finished making all its attacks, the model can
1CP immediately attack using a Blight Grenade, even if it isn’t equipped with one. Its Type is
Detonation
Pistol D6 for the purposes of this attack. Hit rolls for that attack are automatically
successful. Then remove the model as a casualty.

Use this Stratagem in your opponent’s Shooting phase when a Bubonic Astartes Infantry
model is targeted for an attack.. Until the end of the phase, when an attack is made
Buzzing Cloud 2CP
against that model from within 12”, a Hit roll of 1-3 fails, irrespective of any abilities that
the weapon or model making the attack may have.

Use this Stratagem at the start of any phase. Pick a friendly Death Guard model with the
Windblown
1CP Contagions of Nurgle ability. Increase that model’s Contagion Range by 3” until the end of
Pathogens
the phase.

Inspiring Presence
Death Guard leaders have access to several exclusive Inspiring Presence auras that you can select from, in addition
to those presented in the Heralds of Ruin rulebook.

++ Inspiring Presence ++
Fevered Lockstep Increase the Move characteristic of Inspired models by 1”.
Inspired models can attempt to Deny one psychic power per phase as though they were a
Grandfather’s Mirth
Psyker, but must be within 12” of the Psyker attempting to manifest the power to do so.
In each phase you may select an Inspired model. That model treats the current Battle Round
Plague Incubator number as 1 higher than it is for the purpose of its Contagion Range until the end of the phase.
At the end of the phase, that model suffers a mortal wound.

4
Secondary Missions
The Death Guard have access to several exclusive Secondary Missions that you can select from instead of the ones
presented in the main rulebook.

++ Secondary Missions ++
Gain 2VP each time a friendly Bubonic Astartes model completes the Seed Pestilence action.
Seed Pestilence: Up to one Bubonic Astartes model from your Warband can start to perform this
Sower of Corpses action in your Shooting phase, and up to one other Bubonic Astartes model from your Warband
can start to perform this action in your Fight phase, if an enemy model was slain within 3” of that
model, by any other model, during that phase. The action is completed at the end of your next
Command phase if the model performing it is still on the battlefield.
Gifts Most Gain 2VP each time an enemy model with a Wounds characteristic of 2 or more is slain by an
Generous attack whilst within the Contagion Range of the friendly model that made the attack.
Gain 5VP at the end of the game if at least 7 Plague Follower models were destroyed while within
Sacrificial Vectors
1” of an objective marker.
