Summary of the resource you selected? The lesson plan selected teaches early age students that
Africa is more than just desert land with animals. It explains South Africa has cities that are
similar to cities within the United States.

Who is the target audience (learner level) for this resource? Early elementary

Does the author have a clear idea of what they want students to do? Why or why not? Yes, the
author is showing the students that there is more to Africa than animals and safari land.

Are the objectives chosen appropriate for the target audience they outlined? Yes the objective
was appropriate for the age group.

Are there any learning objectives that you would revise, and how would you revise them? No,
there are no objectives I would revise for this age group.

Are there other learning objectives that could be added? No, not for this lesson.

Do the assessments seem to match the objectives? Give an example. Yes, because the students
are required to draw a picture of the African city that has places similar to cities within the US.

Do the learning activities match the objectives? Give an example. Yes, the students were
instructed to draw a picture of the African city that included similar places that are found in the
US.

Do the activities prepare the students for the assessment? Explain how. Yes, the students were
shown pictures of major cities in South Africa.

Do you have any suggestions for special needs students? Give an example. I do not have any
suggestions for special needs students.

Do the plans for technology use in the resource seem appropriate? In particular I want you to
think about how you can technology and the Internet to teach that lesson. There was no
technology used for this lesson. Showing a video and having an interactive map of Africa would
have been a good way to incorporate technology.
Do the plans for course materials seem appropriate for the activities? How might you improve
them? The materials are appropriate. However, I would have included technology into the
lesson plan.

What are the strengths of this resource? Use specific examples. The lesson plan provided a
different aspect of African than what is commonly mentioned in for that age group (i.e., Safari)

What are the weaknesses of this resource? Use specific examples. The lesson plan should have
included a video of an actual city in South Africa to go along with the book.

How would you improve this resource? Use specific examples I would have discussed other cities
within the continent that have similarities to those of the US.
