A teacher leadership project survey

1. How do you prepare your Chinese teaching materials every day?


Person A: Textbook, AP Classroom, AP prep books, YouTube and Google etc.
Person B: Based on the students’ performance in previous classes and according to their level of
language development for the corresponding skill.
Person C: I use children books, various websites such as unite for literacy and epic, other teachers'
materials...
Person D: I have a curriculum book and teaching materials that my lesson plans are scheduled.

2. What are the elements that influence you to prepare your teaching materials?
Person A: AP themes
Person B: Their connection with real life as well as the alignment with standards.
Person C: The level and background knowledge of my students, their age, and developmental
characteristics.
Person D: Sometimes I use authentic materials such as newspaper or news media reports.

3. Do you have students do cultural presentations during the class?


Person A: Yes.
Person B: Yes, presentational language is an important aspect of the curriculum, particularly when
language and culture are interconnected, allowing student to see the indivisible aspect of both.
Person C: No, they are not ready for that yet.
Person D: Yes so that they have a good understanding of the history of the culture as well as
current events in juxtaposition.

4. Have you used AP Chinese exam questions to guide your teaching even you are not
teaching AP students?
Person A: Yes.
Person B: The material provided by the College Board is aligned with the course.
Person C: No, I did not.
Person D: No.

5. After you participated in my presentation, will you use my method to prepare your
lessons in the future?
Person A: Yes.
Person B: I think that it will have a positive impact in my own class planning and development.
Person C: Yes, your ideas inspire me and I'd love to try a few things.
Person D: I will use whatever fits my schools program.
6. Do you have other suggestions for my teacher leadership project?
Person A: How do you teach those topics?
Person B: Incorporate audio recordings from speakers different from the instructor to reinforce
listening skills.
Person C: Since your project has a focus on high school students and I am teaching mostly the
language basics to beginners, I would love to see more ideas on hands-on activities. Activities
appeal to the use of our various senses and how these senses-appealing activities can be
connected to which topics can be very helpful.
Person D: Be mindful of what other teachers are doing and investigate their successes so that you
may use those things that work for them.
