A. INTRODUCTION After going through this module, you are expected to:
1. Present a coherent, comprehensive report on differing viewpoints on an issue.

Say: As we move forward with our main lesson for today, I bet you would like to play a game do you?

But before that, let’s recall our house rules:

1. Raise your hand if you want to answer.
2. Wait until you are called.
3. Do not make any noise.
4. Listen when someone speaks.
5. Do what you are told.

This will be boys vs. girls. First to make 3 will win the contest. I will show you a picture and you try to interpret it. The first to raise a
hand will be called. If the answer is not correct, then the other team steals the chance.

Say:
 Did you enjoy our game? (yes)
 What exactly did you do to come up with the answer? ( we think and analyze)
 Which part of your body helped you think? (our brain/mind)
 Our minds make us think, but what other things can our mind do?
( help us make judgement; helps us give opinion; help us follow direction etc.)

C. DEVELOPMENT Look at the picture and tell me what you think about it.
What do you think does the student feel? Why?
What are the choices he has?
How do you describe each of his choices?
Which of the three do you think he chooses? Why?

Now let us try to look back at the picture. One of the choices the boy has - is Academic Freeze. As explained earlier, academic freeze
refers to the suspension or cancellation of the academic calendar and non-admission of students across all levels due to the COVID-19
pandemic.

Some believes that it is the best option we have for students like you. While there are also quite a number of people who oppose the idea.
I want you to watch a 2-minutevideo clip on academic freeze then afterwards we will try to present a coherent and comprehensive report
on differing views about the issue. So, try to take down notes and get ready for the activity.

LEARNING TASK 1:
After getting through with the video, let us try to present a report on differing view about Academic Freeze by completing the table
below. The people’s opinion on the issue about academic freeze during pandemic, natural calamities and man-made disasters are divided
in to two which are AGREE and DISAGREE as shown on the board.

Why do you think some people are calling for academic freeze? Write their reasons under AGREE.
Why do most especially the government refuse the idea of academic freeze? Write their reasons under DISAGREE.

AGREE DISAGREE

Who would like to read the point of views given on each table? (Have 1 child read column 1 and another child report column 2)

Based on the activity we have just accomplished. How do we give a view point on a certain issue?
What are the things we must consider?

Say: Take note that in every issue whether it is a local or national concern there may be two or more point of views. Mostly, it is either
one agrees or disagrees. In any case, there must be a reason why we choose a stand and should understand the consequence of the choices
we make.
Though is everyone is entitled to his or her own beliefs and opinions, he or she is also responsible for the things he or she expresses
that may offend others who will hear it. Those who often react to opinions have the same obligation. Reacting to oppose one’s view may
be a cause for conflict if not managed properly and if emotions are involved. Learn to respect and appreciate what others think or feel.
That’s the only key.

Hence, we must take note of the following when presenting a report on differing viewpoints:

Sentence 1- State the viewpoints

Sentence 2- Give your stand.
Sentence 3- Reason why you agree or disagree with the viewpoint
Sentence 4- Example to support your view
