Feed Mill Operations Manager

W & H Marriage & Sons is recruiting a senior manager to join the feed
milling team at Chelmsford. They will be responsible for production quality,
safety and costs, and need to provide strategic leadership that drives
development and profitability.
Main tasks:
• Create and control the annual operations budget.
• Manage a team that supervises procurement, planning and production.
• Monitor staff performance and support continuous improvement.
• Develop organisational structure, including recruitment and development.
• Assess the need for process improvement and procedural change.
• Maintain audited standards of product quality and feed safety.
• Organise the servicing and maintenance of plant and machinery.
• Maximise the cost-efficient use of automation and information technology.
• Ensure highest possible standards of discipline, hygiene, health and safety.
• Deliver capital expenditure projects and strategic plans.

The successful candidate will require experience of manufacturing


operations and production management, preferably in animal feed.
It would be beneficial to have further education or industry qualifications,
and experience of purchasing, technical or engineering.
We are looking for someone comfortable with change management
and difficult decisions. They will need excellent reporting, communication
and people management skills.
The working week is Monday to Friday 08.30 to 17.00 but may offer/require
some flexibility and reachability out of hours. The position includes a very
competitive remuneration package, dependant on experience, 24 days
plus public holidays, good pension, sick pay and life assurance.
