Task 3.

Open Loop and Closed Loop Control System

Traffic lights, also known as traffic signals, traffic lamps, traffic

semaphore, signal lights, stop lights, robots (in South Africa and most of
Africa), and traffic control signals (in technical parlance), are signaling
devices positioned at road intersections, pedestrian crossings, and other
locations to control flows of traffic.

The system involving traffic light can be an open loop and closed loop
based on how it control or works. For the open loop system, a traffic flow
control system used on roads is time dependent. The traffic on the road
becomes mobile or stationary depending on the duration and sequence of
lamp glow.

The sequence and duration are controlled by relays which are

predetermined and not dependent on the rush on the road. A closed loop
control system used depends on the situation of road sometimes camera
and wireless radio communication between one people to another locates
where the traffic is. Therefore they control the switch to stop the other side
of road with the lesser vehicle and switches go to other side with heavy
traffic vehicle. The difference is closed have feedback and cam control
based on the actual scenario and for open loop depend only on the
machines.
