Do you watch many films?

Jess: Yes, I do.

Jay: A fair amount.

Liam and Sam: Yeah!

Do you think the trailers only show the best bits?

Jay: Yeah, all the best bits. They give it away.

Charlie: Definitely. They give away too much!

Jess: They scare me with whatever is shown.

Sam: They show the best bits to obviously make you watch the film. But they shouldn’t
show you all the best bits in the film. It ruins it!

Does the trailer influence you to watch a horror film?

Sam: Paranormal activity did for me. The trailer looked so scary and it showed reactions of
the actual audience. They looked completely scared to bits.

Liam: Depends on type the of horror film. Things like sci-fi horrors wouldn’t make me
watch a film from the trailer. But more realistic storylines draw me in so much more.

Charlie: Oh ye! If the trailer looks good, the film must be decent. If the trailer is bad, why
show bad bits of the film. Why would I want to watch that? It’s all on the trailers really.

What do you think of the horror genre?

Jess: I hate them, I watched scary movie 3 and cried!!

Liam: Ah no. I love them!

Charlie: A lot are quite similar especially slasher films, but I do enjoy them.

Do the trailers scare you or frighten you?

Jess: Yes, I’m scared of anything.

Sam: No, if you keep seeing them over and over again you know what’s coming. So, if
they’re over played you just aren’t scared by them.

Liam: The first time I see them usually draws me in straight away. If they do scare me the
better! Then I definitely will go and watch the film.

How do you feel about violent gore films?

Jay: Yes!!

Liam: Best ones I think.

Sam: Like Saw. They’re the best ones.

Jess: No I don’t like them.

Sam: Final destination is stupid.

Liam: Oh you can’t get a worse horror film then Wrong Turn, the trilogy is awful. Possibly
the worst horror films I’ve seen, especially the last one.

Jay: Well final destination is ridiculous. How far fetched do you want to get?

Charlie: Too right!

What type of monster do you prefer to see in horrors?

Liam: The first Bogeyman was a good film. Did make me want to look in the closet!!

Sam: Yeah! I think Freddy Krueger was a really good character too. And the films are
quality.

Charlie: He scared the hell out of me.

Jess: What about Jeepers Creepers?

Liam: Oh Jeepers Creepers, I always remember the song. Where d’you get those peepers,
jeepers, creepers, where you get those eyes….

Jay: Ye. But it’s like The Grudge. That freaked me out, mostly because of the little girl. It
seemed really evil. But the sound that they make in that film is always quite a horror like
thing.

Jess: Stupidly, Indiana Jones scared me. The bit in the graveyard where people are getting
grabbed. Someone grabbed me at the same time!

Sam: Gothika is quite scary. It’s one of those demons and possession horror films. Always
gets me.

Liam: The Exorcist of Emily Rose was very scary. Because it was based on a true story it
seemed realistic. Like to Cloverfield too. It was kind of scary. But the first person view
makes it feel like you’re in the film more.

Sam: Yeah that’s like The Blair Witch Project. It’s the same with a handheld camera. The
idea of real footage gives it a real feel.

Charlie: There should be more Horror films like that.

What is your opinion on psychological horrors?

Liam: 1408. That was a really good film. Made me really scared and jumped more than
twice! It really makes you think and puts you on the edge.

Jay: I liked Seven but didn’t find it scary. It’s a really good film though just more of a
thriller.

Sam: Yeah, like The Others. That’s a good film only it’s not scary!

Jess: If anything, I would watch psychological horrors. They are probably the most easy
watching and quite good films.
