carrying coals emitting methane on a bulk carrier.

5. With reference to the BC Code, explain your understanding of the following


cargo groups.

i. Group A
ii. Group B
iii. Group C

6. Describe the loading/de-ballasting sequence for a seven hold bulk carrier loading a
cargo of 61000 tonnes of coal. No. 1 hold is slightly smaller (7000 tonnes) than the
other holds (9000 tonnes). The answer must highlight the precautions to be taken and
the factors to consider in relation to the voyage.
