Zone Grading
Tops: Some defects will pass or fail depending on the zone that they are located in. Below is a
description of the zones used at HbI. For adults Zone A is on the front of the garment and is measured 6”
from the hem bottom and 2” from the edge of the sides. For youth garments Zone A is on the front of the
garments and is 4” from the hem bottom and 1” from the edge of the sides. The back and sleeves,
bottom and edges are sometimes referred to as “B Zone” or “Other Zone.”
