Activity & Briefing on Simulation Test

A. Prior to drilling
1. Write down pre-recorded data: MISICP, surface line volume, slow circulating rate.
2. Check all panels on simulator:
a. Driller’s panel:
• Set pit deviation alarm.
• Set return flow alarm.
b. BOP panel (touch screen):
• Pressure on accumulator, annular, manifold & air pressure.
• BOP stack (line up for drilling & hard shut in).
c. Stand pipe manifold (touch screen):
• Line up for drilling using mud pumps.
• All other valves must be closed.
d. Choke manifold (touch screen):
• Line up for one of the hydraulic choke & hard shut in.
• All other valves must be closed.
e. Choke panel:
• Check drill pipe & casing pressure gauge reading.
• Check hydraulic choke function.
• Set choke speed.
3. Explain 3 positive indicators.
4. Explain 3S (space out, shut off pump & shut in).
5. Explain possible indicator (especially drilling break) & actions need to be taken.
6. Explain hard shut in.
7. Explain which BOP needs to be shut in.

B. After well is shut in

1. Confirm well is shut in.
2. Record SICP, pit gain & time of kick.
3. Bump float to obtain SIDP.
4. Fill in Kill Sheet.
5. Instruct Driller to observe SICP and call DSM if SICP is getting close to MISICP.
6. Instruct Driller to develop pressure log on SIDP & SICP.

C. Prior to start 1st circulation of Driller’s Method

1. Check latest SICP status.
2. Confirm all lines are lined up for circulating influx out.
3. Explain EVERYTHING that you are going to do in the 1st circulation of Driller’s Method (from
BPUTS until re-shut in well after all influx is out of the well):
a. BPUTS while holding CP constant until SCR is achieved.
b. Keep ICP (+ appropriate SF) constant until all influx is out.
c. Driller has to keep constant pump rate & MW at all time and notify DSM if need to
change it.
d. Pit gain & CP will increase as influx is being circulated out, if there is gas in the influx.
e. Pit gain will return to zero after influx is out of the well.
f. Re-shut in the well by holding CP constant.
g. What should be the DP & CP gauge reading after well is re-shut in.
4. Mark SICP + SF on the casing pressure gauge Mark #1.
5. Check & mark choke opening position Mark #2.
6. After reaching SCR & lag time, mark ICP without overbalance Mark #3.
7. Mark choke’s “sweet spot” Mark #4.
8. Calculate KRP from ICP obtained on the DPP gauge.

D. After 1st circulation of Driller’s Method completed

1. Explain well condition (all influx is out, overbalance in the well).
2. Instruct Driller to prepare KMW.
3. Reset stroke counter as surface line volume is achieved.
4. Explain EVERYTHING that you are going to do in the 2nd circulation of Driller’s Method (from
BPUTS until re-shut in well after KMW is out of the well):
a. BPUTS while holding CP constant until SCR is achieved.
b. Keep CP constant until KMW reaches the bit DPP gauge should shows FCP.
c. DPP will decrease as KMW is pumped from surface to bit.
d. Keep DPP constant until KMW reaches the surface.
e. CP will decrease as KMW is pumped from bit to surface.
f. Driller has to keep constant pump rate & KMW at all time and notify DSM if need to
change it.
g. Re-shut in the well by holding CP constant.
h. What should be the DP & CP gauge reading after well is re-shut in.
i. Bleed trapped pressure if any & open BOP.
