• Parent mee ngs
Please be on me for the mee ngs. Parents are also
expected to make note of all points conveyed at the
mee ng and not miss the ini al part of the session.
• Travel
Kindly refrain from sending your child
unaccompanied in a trishaw. If your child travels in a
school van, please make sure there is a lady
present.
• Please make arrangements to pick your child on
me a er school and co-curricular ac vi es and
avoid keeping him/her ll late at school.
• Please see that you do not give your child a mobile
phone and do not allow your child to ever use your
mobile phone. Do not allow them to have Facebook
/ Instagram /Social media as it will lead your child
along the wrong path. Although messages are sent
on Telegram, it is for the parents only. Parents have
to read the message to the child.
• Please pay your child's fees on me. The school is
faced with much inconvenience when parents
delay paying the school fees.
• Students who sit for O/L exams in May/ June/
December can apply for an internship in school.
Vacancies for internship will also exist for students
a er their A/L exams.
• Please advise your children not to buy food from
outside vendors/ street sellers as there may be
unwanted things included in them.
• If you have a liquor cabinet at home, please ensure
it is locked and that your children do not have
access to them. Please also refrain from keeping
cigare es lying around.
Please note that the co curricular ac vity 'choir' has
now been categorized as a physical ac vity.
Compe ons
For compe ons such as singing and best speaker, the
semi finals will comprise of three internal judges. For
the finals there will be one judge from outside and two
internal judges. The internal judges will be staff
members who are not teaching the par cipants nor
have any rela onship to the par cipants.

Dear Parents and Students, (Grades 6 to 12 only)
Please note that there will be General Studies ques ons
and answers appearing in different places in the
Newsle er. This will be tested at the Semester Exams
held in March 2020. The en re answer has to be wri en
to get full marks. If only part of the answer is wri en,
marks will not be given. The two objec ves we are
achieving by these General Studies ques ons and
answers are : the students gain general knowledge, and
also the students will read the en re Newsle er
without throwing it away.
If your child is in grades 2 to 5 and 7 to 12, please
handover your old report to your class teacher as we
will be using the same report for the March exam. If you
have lost your report, please purchase only the report
cover from the school office at Rs. 500. The inside
pages will not be given.
TENNIS
Can be played as a sport or as a recrea onal ac vity with
friends and family. Either way, playing tennis is a good sport
to maintain your health, fitness, strength and agility. In
addi on to the fitness and physical health benefits, tennis
also provides numerous social and mental health benefits
as well.
• As well as being a great physical workout, tennis is also a
nonimpact sport
• A great way to meet students and spend me with
friends
• Suitable for all ages and skill levels. Whatever your level,
you can find someone of a similar ability to play with
• Helpful to reduce stress
• Not dependent on youth or strength – you can start the
game at any age.
Regarding the eighth subject (Cambridge O/L)
Students who are si ng for Cambridge O/Ls are
encouraged to do Sinhala/Tamil as the eighth subject
a er school (from January to April) while in grade 10,
if they feel they are confident enough to cope up with
the subject ma er. A majority of students who do
these subjects achieve considerably higher grades
and therefore will have an opportunity to achieve
Cambridge awards. *Sinhala/Tamil classes will be
held a er school for these students. As applica ons
have already closed for the batch of 2020, the above
will be applicable to the present grade 9 students
when applying for OL exams.

DONATION BY THE PREFECTS GUILD OF 2017/18

It was a memorable moment in the history of Lyceum when the Prefects
Guild of 2017/18 donated a Smart Board valued at Rs. 850,000.00 to
their alma mater. It was installed in the Conference Hall recently. Inter Interna onal School Under 15 Cricket
