Theme Verse
“And having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness”
Romans 6:18
Theme: I am free
(*Romans 6:5 ESV)
“For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with
him in a resurrection like his.”

Paul writes to the church in Rome to present his basic statement of the gospel: God's plan of
salvation for all peoples, Jew and Gentile alike. Paul knew the importance of having a close
relationship with His Saviour, which caused him to rejoice and say, "the life I now live in the
flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, Who loved me and gave Himself for me," and we are
to follow the example of Paul and die to self as we live for Christ daily. Being united with Christ
is to be identified with the Person and work of the Lord Jesus. When we are united with Him, the
power of the sin nature is severed, so that we are enabled to live in newness of life in which
grace reigns - the new life of Christ within.  It is by faith that we are placed in union with Christ.
We are positioned in Him through the baptism of the Holy Spirit and it is by being baptised into
the Body of Christ at salvation, that we become identified with His death as well as His life.

My Three (3) Takeaways

1. We should walk with Him as we travel along the way

- as we live and as we move. We should honour him as we clean the house, mend the
car, shop for groceries, or answer the door. We should honour Him in all we do, whether
we eat and drink, when we wake and when we sleep, whatever we do should be done
for the glory of God.

- Colossians 3:1-4 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where
Christ sitteth on the right hand of God." "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the
earth." " For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God." "When Christ, [who is] our life,
shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."

We Christians live or die in Jesus. We are believers in and followers of Him. In fact, He has
taken up His abode in us. As we read above, Christ in us.
2. Certainly we also shall be [logical progression] in the
likeness of His resurrection,

The believer’s experience with resurrection in Christ is epoch changing. This is

the logical inference of our identity in Christ. The death of Christ was not His end;
it led to His resurrection. The believer’s death to sin resulted in resurrection to the
epoch-changing life with Christ. We are now free from the sin capacity in Adam.
This is what Paul referred to in Philippians 3:10 as the “power of His
resurrection.”
The reign of grace has indeed replaced the reign of the sin capacity in Adam (Ro
5:12-21). In this passage, Jesus died “to” sin, not for sin.

“Every believer knows what it is to struggle with sin daily. We know about the
forgiveness of the penalty of our sin on the cross. Few, however, know what positionally
happened on the cross to their sin capacity inherited from Adam, when at their salvation
a new capacity was launched in Christ. The new capacity is a restraint on sin.”

3. We can make the bold declaration that we are dead to sin because of Jesus.

- In other words, our relationship with Jesus is what changes our relationship to sin. When I
experience temptation, I must recall the fact that I died and rose with Jesus, for my
identification with him changes the power of sin over me. I have a new relationship with sin,
one in which I am dead to it. I am alive to God instead, all because of my unification with
Jesus.

The word Paul uses is beautiful: united. You were joined with Jesus, knit together with him.
You’ve become one with him, identified with him.

This unity with Jesus is both the ground and goal of our sanctification or growth. How can I
even find the power to grow? Because I was united with Jesus. What am I trying to grow
into? Towards unity and likeness with Jesus. I can be sanctified because of him, and my
sanctification takes me toward him. Unity with him is my launching pad. Solidarity with him is
my destination.

So we have been fused together with Jesus. We are so strongly united with, tied to, Him. Do
you know this? This truth is vital and must be embraced by every believer. Your unity with
Christ is your precious possession.

Prayer after Seeking for June:

Pumasok
sa aking puso, Panginoong Jesus, at maging aking Tagapagligtas. Amen.

The Specific things that I've enjoyed the most was that..... 1) The first speaker whom I believed It was
Ms. Ma. Diana F. San Juan, what I licked about the most is that before she start her discussions; she gave
some definition of terms, like Drug Abuse, drug addict, etc. which mostly, give a misconceptions of that
particular words. Another, she had also discussed some of the "Reward System" after a person had
taken drugs which might increase his/her dopamine, which a person might feel pleasure. 2). If a teen
has already tried quitting or reducing use and failed, then it’s important to receive treatment as soon as
possible. There are treatment centers designated for teens that target the emotional and social issues
that led to their drug use. Most teen treatment centers also offer educational support so teens in
recovery don’t get behind in school. The earlier an addiction is recognized, the easier it is to treat.
