Greece is a country in southeastern Europe with thousands of islands
throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas. Influential in ancient times, it's often
called the cradle of Western civilization. Athens, its capital, retains
landmarks including the 5th-century B.C. Acropolis citadel with the
Parthenon temple. Greece is also known for its beaches, from the black
sands of Santorini to the party resorts of Mykonos.
▪ Zeus is the god of the sky, lightning
and the thunder in Ancient Greek
religion and legends, and ruler of all
the gods on Mount Olympus. Zeus is
the sixth child of Cronos and Rhea,
king and queen of the Titans.
▪ Poseidon was god of the sea,
earthquakes, storms, and horses and is
considered one of the most bad-
tempered, moody and greedy
Olympian gods. He was known to be
vengeful when insulted. He is the son
of Cronus and Rhea.

pantheon. She is known for being the
Goddess of Marriage & Birth. Despite
being the Goddess of Marriage, she was
known to be jealous and vengeful towards
the many lovers and offspring of her
husband Zeus.

called Pluto or Pluton (“the Wealthy
One” or “the Giver of Wealth”), in
ancient Greek religion, god of the
underworld.
