Exam 1: Understanding Similarities and Differences of Culture ( A Mini-Portfolio Inspiring Culture

Appreciation)

It’s relatively easy for us to experience another culture today. Television, social media keep us
connected at all times, giving us a glimpse into how other people around the world live. All this
connection can inspire genuine cultural appreciation. But experiencing another culture doesn’t
automatically mean you understand it, or that you should start claiming elements of that
culture as your own.

Our exam is by group, then I belong in group 2. The topic that our professor gave us was about
Indonesia and Malaysia. I was assigned to answer the part 1 of the examination which is to
write 150 words about the background of the following: location, terrain, climate,
language/spoken, religion, government type and other relevant information.

Our group got a perfect score and our professor said that our group was excellent. All of it
became possible because of the cooperation of all the members of our group, most especially
because of the creativity of our leader.

2nd Exam: Achieving Creativity in Multimodality in an Editorial

Multimodality refers to the interplay between different representational modes, for instance,
between images and written word. It is a theory which looks at the many different modes that
people use to communicate with each other and to express themselves. This theory is relevant
as an increase in technology tools, and associated access to multimedia composing software,
has led to people being able to easily use many modes in art, writing, music, and dance and
every-day interactions with each other. A mode is generally defined as a communication
channel that a culture recognizes. Examples of modes are writing, gesture, posture, gaze, font
choice and color, images, video, and even the interactions between them. Multimodality
emphasize that people communicate in a variety of ways, and that in order to completely
understand someone, the many modes they use to communicate must be observed and
recognized.

In this examination, we were tasked to make an editorial. In which the given issues are: A.
COVID-19 pandemic; B. Preservation of the environment; C. Gender equality; D. Human rights;
E. Bullying; F. Philippine’s Educational system, and others. Our group choose the issue about
the Preservation of the Environment. Our group got a perfect score.

3rd Exam: On the Quest Against the Visible and Beyond (A Video Awareness vis-à-vis covid-19)
People saw an opportunity to communicate any information in a new way. Like blogging is
presenting information through an online journal. It is a platform where a writer or blogger
imparts his view on an individual subject.
 Like watching a video awareness vis-à-vis covid-19. We present the important information
through video such as the origin, statistics, nature/characteristics, effects/impacts, symptoms,
and remedies.
In this examination, we’ve experienced many difficulties especially because we were not given a
grade right away. At some point, I was disappointed because my groupmates did not
acknowledge some of my suggestions but then I still did my part such as by working on the
origin and statistics. I never thought that it would be the outcome. I just didn’t expect it to be
that way, but then we can do nothing but to accept the fact that they did not include us in the
group. Apart from it, I am so very thankful for the unmeasurable kindness and consideration of
my professor and by giving me a chance. Thank you so much sir! For allowing us to submit our
third exam.
Marami mga karanasan ni hindi maganda sa pagsusulit na ito,dahil hindi kami nabigyan agad ng
grade. I am so disappointed some of my groupmate dahil some of my suggestion ay hindi man
lang nila pinansin but still I do my part like ginawa ko yong sa origin and statistics. Hindi ko
inakala na ganoon ang kalabasan. Pero wala na kaming magagawa kundi tanggapin na hindi
kami sinali. But I am so thankful to my prof dahil sa kanyang kabaitan, pag-unawa, and for
giving a chance, thank you so much Sir! Dahil binigyan mo kami ng pagkakataong makapag
submit ng 3rd exam.

4rth Exam: Enhancing Capabilities, Enriching Opportunities (Right Skills and Right Speech in
Public Speaking)

Public speaking is presenting a discourse that is delivered live before an audience. It is driven by
different purpose, such as to educate, to entertain, or to influence an audience and it is a soft
skill that requires excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to engage with an
audience. Good public speaking skills are important in other areas of our life, as well. They
might be asked to make a speech at a friend's wedding, give a eulogy for a loved one, or inspire
a group of volunteers at a charity event and it can enhance our reputation, boost our self-
confidence , and open up countless opportunities.
My experience in this exam is not so easy. Speaking in front of many people is one of my
weaknesses. In this examination, we did a speech wherein I was assigned to a topic about
online learning. Then, during the performance I was so nervous that I failed to have an eye
contact with the audience, but still got a good score.
My experienced in this exam is not easy. Ang pagsasalita sa harap ng mga tao ay isa sa aking
mga kahinaan. Sa exam na ito ay Gumawa kami ng isang speech kung saan ang aking nagging
topic ay patungkol sa Online Learning. During the event I felt nervous and I failed to make a
better eye contact with audience. But still I got a good score.
5th Exam: Dramatic Monologue (Communication in the Workplace/ Work Ethics)

Communication in the workplace is one of the signs of a high-performance culture. Exchanging information
and ideas within an organization. Communication can be formal, informal, internal or external. And within an
organization, it is important to develop a healthy and beneficial communication process. Effective
communication is the key to achieving long-term success. A company that has established behavioral
policies can improve its reputation and help ensure its long-term success. Proper ethics and
behavior in the workplace it is important to specify what is acceptable and unacceptable
behavior for its employees. Improving workplace ethics, and stressing integrity is important for
the future success of the company. 
My experience in doing a drama was rough and challenging especially the monologue. As you
will be the one to perform everything. Also, struggles more in the sudden switching of
characters. During the performance I was not be able to absolutely execute the lines as I didn’t
fully memorize it all. I played four characters in the drama, they are Lady Boss (the CEO), Miss
Sweety (secretary), Mr. Chavez (Chief Operating Officer) and Miss Jingky (Chief Financial
Officer). It was hard to play their characters but still I manage it all and was thankful for I got a
perfect score.
My experienced was dili lalim mag drama especially mag monologue. Dahil ikaw lahat ang
gumaganap. Hindi lang isang character kundi mahigit pa. At mas mahirap pa sa ganitong
klaseng drama ay yong pagpalit bigla sa ibang character. Nung ginawa ko ito hindi ko talaga
lubos nagampanan dahil hindi ko namemorize lahat ng mga linya. May apat akong character na
ginagamapanan sa drama na ito. Sila ay si Lady Boss(the CEO), Miss Sweety(secretary),Mr.
Chavez( Chief Operating Officer), Ms. Jingky (Chief Financial Officer). Hindi madali gampanan
ang kanilang mga character. But still I am so thankful because I got a perfect score.

6th exam: Research Paper Title Proposal (Topic Section /Greatest Interest)

The research paper proposal title is one of the most important and prominent parts of the
document. The title, being the first parts of the proposal document, is what gives the panel the
first impression about the proposal content.
I can say that this examination is stressful because it requires you to think carefully or to think
of a topic to conduct a research. It was not an easy task especially that other members of the
group did not cooperate. So, we have decided to separate ourselves from those members that
did not participated then organized a new group and suggested a possible topic for the
research. The topics that we have submitted for the approval are the following;
1-The Effectiveness of Home-based Learning Towards the Student in this Time of Pandemic.
2. The Difference Between Mental and Emotional State of Students who Take Modular Class
ang Online Class.
3. The Status of Job Employment During the Pandemic
And the approved topic is the topic 1.

Masasabi ko na this examination is nakaka stress,dahil kailangan mong mag isp ng maigi or
kailangan mong mag isip yong pinaka gusto mong I topic at gwan ng research. Hindi madali ang
lahat. Lalo na yong iba mong ka group ay hindi nakikipag ugnayan. Kaya naka decide kami na
mag separate ng ibang group para magawa lang namin ito. Kanya kanaya kaming nagbigay ng
mga topics. Ang mga Topics naming na sinabmit para sa approval ay ang mga sumusunod;

7th exam: Research Paper Outline Proposal (Full Grasp of My Study/ My Great Achievement)
A proposal is a document that is written to present and justify your interest and needed for
researching a particular topic. It is a concise summary of your research paper. An abstract for
a proposal should include the topic, aims of your study, who will be involved in the research, the
methods and the timeframe. It is usually concluded with a statement that explains the relevance
of the research.
In working with the research paper, all members of the group participated. During the
examination we conducted a defense about our research paper. I was so very nervous, luckily
we have succeeded in our defense.
Sa exam na ito ay kinabahan ako ng sobra dahil sa gagawing defense. Natulongtulong kami sa
pagresearch.Through oral defense ang ginawa. At nagging success naman ang pagsusulit na
ito.
