Statement of Purpose

I, Mukul Gupta, will be completing my Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Institute

of Law and Management studies, Gurgaon a university collage of Maharishi
Dayanand University, Haryana, India in 2011.

As a law student I have always had an interest in cross-disciplinary and

comparative studies of multiple jurisdictions. Thus, in order to pursue my further
studies I would like to join your esteemed university for higher studies so as to
learn and advance my interest in the study of comparative laws. At the same time
I would take the opportunity to add that I sincerely hope that my learning of
Indian and South Asian laws would help me to engage myself into comparative
research of Asian and European laws which, due to the increasing advent of
globalization, is increasingly becoming more and more relevant in today’s
contemporary multicultural societies.

I draw my inspiration to pursue my higher studies from my elder cousin brother

who is an Assistant Law Professor in the O P Jindal Global Law School, Sonipat
(HR) India and to my elder brother who has also completed his Master of Laws
(LL.M.) from Delhi, India and has been practicing in the Supreme Court of
India.

I did my schooling from Ludlo Castle No 2, Raj Pur Road, Delhi, and got Ist
position in 12th standard.

As regard my father is concern. He has his own separate hosiery wholesale

business and I some time also take part in the same. As regard my study is
concern, there is no relation with our family business but education doesn’t go in
vain. Defiantly it will help me in doing future Trance-national business.

One of my foremost purposes to enroll myself in this university is the rigorous

and extensive emphasis which the university puts on academic freedom and
research. I believe that the unprecedented reputation of the European
universities in general, and your prestigious university in particular, of providing
a conducive research environment and advanced learning facilities like state of
the art campus and fully equipped library would serve my goal of being able to
research on a variety of socio-legal topics.
 As far as project work is concern I am regularly preparing the same on Human
Right, Cyber Law, Constitutionalism, Arbitration & conciliation, Banking laws,
Insurance laws, International Trade Law and competition law etc, during my
academic sessions and some important Topics are Non- Culpability of attempt to
Suicide., cyber squatting, constitutional validity of section-54(iv) of Evidence
Act, Weather India is a good place for commercial arbitration or not and
analyses on Anti Competition laws etc. I precisely take interest in the Criminal
Laws and in the Constitution of India

I have also interned with Mr.R.K Bindal, a Defending Advocate for Govt. of
India ,121 Western wings, Tis Hazari Courts, Delhi as a junior during my
summer vacations.

I am also a social personality, after getting the majority age, I used to donate
blood every after six and I am a member of a NGO which provide legal literacy
to the poor people or needy persons.

I am a football player and have played for school two and more time in inter-
school game competition. I one time won 2nd prize in 200mit race in collage
games. I also take part in moot court competition.

I would be extremely glad if your university, in the light of the aforesaid,

considers my application for admission for the course in master of Laws (LL.M.)
I can ensure you that other then learning and researching in your university I
would be able to contribute to comparative legal studies by way of sharing of my
understanding of the Indian laws with others.
