d) If you were allowed to increase the number of either the Systems Analysts OR the
Programmers by ONE unit (number) which one would you go for?

Solution: I will opt for none because, increasing System Analysts or Programmers may result
in reduction of timeline for the delivery of either System Analysts or Programmers but it is
not going to change the overall timeline of the project as there is interdependency. Also, all
the activity are currently getting started by their ES time thus there is no need to increase
the resource. This will only result in increase in cost of project.

e) Draw the PLOT of the sensitivity of REDUCTION in TIME to COMPLETION of PROJECT in


relation to the NUMBER of ADDITIONAL programmers put on the GUMBY Project.

Solution:

3 or below programmers: Activity M requires presence of minimum 4 programmers thus for


less than 4 programmers the project will not be feasible (Assuming requirement given as
minimum & non linear)

In case of 4 programmers: the activity L & Q will cause the delay as ES & LF of activity L & Q
will get affected.

Delay expected in case of 4 programmer = 16man weeks/4=3.5 which is 4 weeks

In case of 5 or more programmer: Delay expected in case of 5 and above is Zero as none of
the ES of any activity will get effected also since it is interdependent on work being done by
system analyst the project will get completed in 26 weeks.
