“IMPACT OF SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS TOWARDS BUSINESS STRATEGY

AND OPERATION IN PANDEMIC”

Chapter 1. INTRODUCTION

I. Background of The Study

We never expect to be in the situation that our actions are so limited. Due
to the pandemic and the expansion of covid-19 virus worldwide protocols and
rules has been initiated. Jobs and businesses are closing because of the strict
mandate of our government.

People can’t go outside without any valid reason even working and even
though it is really needed for us to support the daily needs and wants. Because of
that people need to find another way to at least fill their needs and it is on the issue
of consumption of food and security of foods. In short, our main needs are lacking
due to this pandemic.

Our Government still have an eye to us as their citizen, so they made a


solution about this problem regarding this food lacking that is happening all over
the Philippines and s their response the “Ayuda sa panahon ng Covid-19”
happened. Every municipalities should give at least food pack and the cash
assistance Program that the Government had implemented for those citizens who
can’t really afford buying goods.

For a lot of reasons, people can’t just depend on what’s the government
can give because everyone knows that it will not last long. We know that we
Filipinos are very creative in making the worst situation into a better one. That
made a lot of citizens to create a business amidst Pandemic. Due to protocols they
can’t sell their products on market and even outside their houses so as a people
that was born in today’s generation, they used social media platforms to create a
business and sell it online. We all know that almost everyone is using social
medias and that is a big help to promote it online without disobeying any safety
protocol about Covid-19. In this new strategy of selling and making business will
surely help them to fulfill their needs and to get an income. This one will also help
consumers to avoid going outside to buy their needs and wants. Because in just a
one click on our phone without stepping our foot outside our home, the order will
come and knock to our doors.
This research study is Pursued to examine how the social media gives
help to everyone in making an income in this Pandemic, also to look at the
strategy that businesses are using and the operation they are under in terms of this
very unusual situation. This one also can show how social media should work in a
good and beneficial way in both seller and costumer and of course to the economy
of our country.

II. Research Question


This study aims to explore the impacts of social media platforms towards business
strategy and operation in this Covid-19Pandemic.
Specifically, this study aims to answer the following questions:
1. How can business be good in different social media platforms that can satisfy
the consumer’s expectation?
2. What are the possible ways they can use to at least engage people to purchase
the products they are selling?
3. What is the expected solution that the sellers can provide once they made a
mistake in creating and transporting their consumers order?
4. As consumers how ca you rate the service in terms of their operation in giving
the orders?

III. Scope and Delimitation


This study is limited to the exploration of the impacts of social media platforms
towards business strategy and operation. The study will only be conducted to
those chosen businessmen who are using Social Media Platforms in selling their
Products with their random selected consumers who are used to order online here
in Bimonton Mallig Isabela and Aurora Isabela.

The study will utilize the descriptive survey approach with the use of
questionnaire and interview as the instruments. With the restrictions brought by
the pandemic, the questionnaire will be created thru Google form and will be sent
to participants via Messenger.
The findings will be analyzed using statistical approaches such as weighted mean,
frequency and percentage, and the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).

IV. Significance of The Study


The results of this study may give benefit to the following:
Aspiring Entrepreneurs. This one will help them to get an idea about the
strategies and operation that can gathered in this research study. And also, their
guide how to run a business in this kind of unexpected fate.

Online shoppers. As of now almost all Filipinos are aware of online selling and
in using social media platforms to shop or to buy a product but a there are people
who don’t know how’s the process of delivery. This one will help them to become
aware of how the operation is going on in their orders.

Small business. This one will help them grow because they can use the strategies
that those businesswoman/man did to manage their businesses to reach the top of
their business.

Non-Government Organization. This will give them information on how we can


use social media in its most appropriate way. Not in bragging but more on
approaching one another how to buy and create a new business. It is either for
group or individual.
