General information:

This audit scope is based on best industry practice information like the VIQ, VMSA-2, PSC inspections
etc.In this way the internal Security Audit is not only complying with the ISPS Code but also gives
guidance to Masters, Officers and Crew on board for the external audits and inspections which are to
follow.

Instructions for the auditor:

Qualifications: The auditor should be in possession of an “Internal ISO 9001:xxxx Auditing” (or alike)
certificate and should have at least five years seagoing experience as Officer on board vessels.

Purpose: This scope could by part of other audit scopes. When completing this scope, a (handwritten)
report should be left behind on board, in order to serve as quick reference action list for the vessel’s
crew. In a later stage, the scope will be attached and referred to in the Audit Report (V06-ALL-QAM-F-
301).

Objective: This scope serves as guideline for the auditor. It guarantees an objective audit against fair
industry practices and international regulations without being limited to the questions asked in the
scope itself. There is always room to place additional questions at the bottom of the scope list.

Requirements: Internal Security audits should be performed at least once a year.
