PART II - SCHOOL GENERAL GUIDELINES

A. FJRSD LEARNING ONLINE 2020

As a JUSTINIAN community, our concern is always for the well-being of all our students and employees. We want to
ensure them when we are preparing and planning for the “new normal” in education by exploring alternative
instructional delivery methods.

This plan will be updated as we learn and continue to explore this new method of learning. There will likely be some
new challenges along the way as we all adjust to our new circumstances. In the same way that students and families
will need time to adjust to the new learning environment, so will our staff. We are committed to support every learner
and will do so while keeping students and families informed. We ask for your understanding, support and partnership
as we move forward with the best of intentions.

Considering that face-to-face instruction will not be safe at this time of COVID-19 pandemic, FR. JUSTIN
RUSSOLILLO SCHOOL OF DAVAO will adopt the Online Distance LearningProgram for its students in Pre-School
and Grades 1-10 from August 3, 2020 to April 30, 2021.

B. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS?

How will instruction be delivered in SY 2020-2021?

The classroom instruction from Preschool to Grade 6 will be conducted online.  The physical classroom will now be
replaced with a virtual classroom where teacher-pupil interaction takes place through video conferences and other
forms of digital tools where interactions are possible.

Why choose online instruction?
This is the safest mode of delivering instruction in the midst of this pandemic. Even if the quarantine will be eased,
mobility will still be restricted and the threat of contracting the virus is still very imminent.  Moreover, delivering the
instruction online ensures pupils’ safety in their own homes while learning with their teachers and classmates in real-
time although they are in different places.

How is an online class structured?
 The school will use the Learning Management System (LMS) which can be accessed by both the parents and the
students. The LMS is a digital platform where :

 Interactive learning materials can be accessed ;

 Schedule of activities can be posted;
 Assignments of students can be retrieved and accomplished;
 Grades can be viewed;
 Students and parents can freely communicate with the teachers and the school.

How does an online class look on a day-to-day basis?

The classes are scheduled into morning sessions and afternoon sessions.  The pupils will follow a schedule for the
whole year. The online class is structured like a regular class that follows a schedule from Monday to Friday.  Online
class lasts for about 3 hours and 30 minutes in the morning. The online class allows the pupils to interact through
video conferences, discussion forums, group assignments, online posting boards and class discussions. Each day,
there are specific tasks that the pupils will follow and do. Each class starts with a brief physical exercise to prepare
the pupils to start or transition to another online class. The pupils also meet their subject teachers daily to facilitate
their learning experiences.

How will the pupil and the parents know what to do each day?
A schedule guides the pupils and parents on daily tasks. Detailed instructions are also provided in each online
classroom with corresponding learning resources to study and work on as well as the links to online resources.

How are the lessons delivered?

Page 4
Lessons are delivered using the Learning Management System (LMS). LMS is software capable of administering e-
learning courses and online examinations and analyzing student performance data. It is complemented with a wide
variety of formats in order to cater to different learning styles. Some examples of delivery are online face-to-face
discussion through Zoom or Google Meet, videos, PowerPoint presentations accompanied by teacher voiceover,
interactive labs and external websites, online articles, along with other interactive tools.

Will the pupils be sitting in front of a computer all day?
Not at all. The pupils will have a half-day online class with an average of 3 hours and 30 minutes in the morning and
every day from Monday to Friday. In the afternoon, they do some of the essential works offline such as reading
books, solving math problems on paper, drawing, and conducting several activities.

Does the school require the pupil’s attendance online?
Yes. The subject teachers will check the pupils’ attendance in the morning and afternoon. The students are required
to log-in morning and afternoon in order for them to access the platform. This is also to monitor pupils’ participation
in individualized online instruction and in guided online instruction.

How are the assessments performed?
Assessments are done through a variety of formats; there are quizzes, tests, discussions, and assignments that our
teachers use for assessment. Pupils will be required to appear on video to take the assessments.

Does the subject still require textbooks?
All subjects still require textbooks since they are relevant to the pupil’s learning while at home.  The presentation of
the concepts and the exercises in the textbooks are easy to follow even while the pupil is studying independently..
Textbooks will be used for back up reading and will serve as their workbooks. Whenever necessary, teachers will
also give printed worksheets .

How are online classes graded?

Online classes are graded just like in the regular classroom. Formative and summative assessments will be
conducted online. Tasks will also be given that can be done online or offline. The conduct of assessments will be
complemented with appropriate digital tools and platforms.

How do pupils take assessments?
Summative assessments will be given online using appropriate and manageable digital tools. These will be
conducted in a manner that the integrity of the assessments will be protected.

What technology is needed?

To prepare your child for this new learning experience, the following materials would be needed:
1. Desktop or laptop: Supports online activities such as LMS, Google Classroom, Google Meet, and   It should
also Built-in camera and microphone.
2. Internet connection
3. Headset or earphone with a microphone if you don’t want your child to be distracted by ambient noise.

What is the minimum Internet speed required the run the system?
The system can be accessed with the Internet speed of at least 10mbps. Although, the higher the better especially
when using the video conferencing tool.

What about those students with Limited Internet Access or without gadget?
For those who lack access to the internet or whose parents opted for their children not to use online due to personal
reasons, teachers will assist students by giving individual tasks using their textbooks and providing them a separate
schedule.

1. Textbook

Page 5
2. Teachers will assist the students by giving individual work activities and independent
schedule.

Is there a space for parents to view notifications and give feedback?

Yes, a parent will be given an account and can message his/her child’s teacher, can view the class
schedules, notifications and provide feedback via the Messaging function of LMS.

Will there be any schedule for orientation of parents?
The school will conduct a virtual orientation of parents via Google Meet sometime in July 4 th week up to August
1st week, 2020. Thus parents should always keep in touch with the Official Facebook account of Fr. Justin
Russolillo School for updates.

The school will continue to communicate to parents/ guardians/ students important messages and notices sent

educational goals, aims and objectives can be realized if there is order and discipline, cooperation and
sensitivity to others. Because of this students are expected to behave in a manner that speaks well of our
school. Discipline is looked upon as a very important training towards self-control and character formation.

A. Absences:
Regular attendance is required of all students. Attendance is counted from the first day of regular classes
regardless of the date of the student’s enrolment.

a pupil/student who exceeds the twenty percent (20%) limit for reasons considered valid and acceptable to
the school. Such discretion shall not excuse the pupil/student concerned from responsibility of keeping up
with lesson assignments and taking examinations when indicated. The discretionary authority is vested in the
school head, and may not be availed of by a student nor granted by a faculty member without the consent of
the school head.

Page 7

PART III ONLINE BULLYINGAND HARASSMENT POLICY

Since the school has adopted the online mode of conducting classes, we find it opportune to present the JRSD Code
of Conduct for Online Learning, as a supplement to the existing Student handbook, focusing more on the “new
normal” that challenges everyone to embrace.

As a bona fide JUSTINIAN, students are expected to:

 Help establish and maintain a positive and healthy online learning environment by observing respect,
cultural sensitivity and politeness in dealing with peers and teachers all the time.
 be responsive and participative to the best of their ability in the online discussions and activities
focusing on the given topics;
 be responsible of their own learning by striving to comply with all tasks and assignments on their own,
unless it is a collaborative group task, and on the allotted time;
 be on time in all Online Classes and inform their teachers if they cannot attend or late in attending the
class for any reason;
 Observe proper decorum by wearing appropriate attire. It may not be the school uniform, but neatly and
properly. Refrain from wearing sando, revealing tops, skimpy shorts and other inappropriate attire
especially when the class is scheduled using video conference;

Page 8

learning(e.g. away from any loud or destructive noise); and

CYBER BULLYING AND HARASSMENT LAW AND POLICY

The students of Online Learning at Fr. Justin School take their classes over the internet. In the virtual environment,
