What’s means Phase I?
PETROLEUM TECHNOLOGY

The introductory phase to the Directional Drilling Training Program includes a brief training to
the different services that are carried out in the "Up Stream" of the petroleum industry as an
introduction to well drilling from beginning to end. At the end of this stage, the technical level of
the participants about the industry will be equivalent, regardless of the Academic or Engineering
discipline that they bring from the University.

This phase of 2 weeks is set in a dynamic classroom environment using modern teaching
techniques. Participants will be given be given course materials and will use activities to apply
what they have learnt. A field trip is also given. Assessments are given to assess what they have
learnt. Discussions are greatly encouraged!!

During the Instructor Led Training phase the participants will take 6 intensive technical
modules which help them to increases their competence level and be ready to face the next
phase. Each modules will be evaluated so a passing grade is required for advancement from
week to week.

Phase III – On Job Training
Continuous Training
• Participants will gain as much experience as possible catching directional jobs
• Participants shall apply the knowledge and understanding learned in classroom
• During the OJT the participants will attend lab training
• All participants are expected to follow company’s HSE policies
• Participants shall stay for the ENTIRE duration of the job.
Mentored Training
• A mentor should be assigned – Globus Specialist or Senior Engineer
• The mentor will evaluate the participants’ performance
• Mentor will schedule participants’ activities

Small Groups
• 4 participants/location with possibility to catch 4-5 jobs
• Less impact on customer view
• Opportunity to catch different types of jobs
• Groups integration.

Break Out Presentation

• Prepare the BO presentation based on the better real case attended.
• Mentors, Supervisors and/or Managers will evaluate the participant’s
performance

Advantage of Teaching Techniques for Participants

• Motivation to Learn
• Trainees are more motivated to learn when they perceive that learning will help them
perform tasks or deal with problems they confront in their daily lives.
• Trainees are more motivated to seek out and learn information they need to complete
a task at hand that is relevant to their work.
• Retention and Transfer
• It is harder for a trainee to retain and transfer information before they really
understand how they will use it.
• Trainees retain information they get at the teachable moment because they use it
immediately.
• Getting the information at the teachable moment creates a mental link between the
information and how it is used on the job making it easier to retrieve when needed in
real life.
• Less Learning, More Often
• In 2001, the American Psychological Association published research showing
practicing different skills in concentrated blocks is not the most efficient way to
learn.
• Smaller, more frequent learning spread over time and interwoven into the fabric of the
workplace is dramatically more effective than traditional single hit training delivery.

associated risk company
• Supervised/Mentore • Eng’s prepared to
d field training face new challenge

Safety Time

Capacity Efficiency
• Possibility to train up • Company with higher
to 2 groups per year. human capital
• More engineers • Company with higher
trained to attend competitive level
other regions of the • Company with higher
