Embezzlement is an act of fund misappropriation from an entrusted individual or organization to one

person or more, either to be kept or used personally. It usually refers to a white-collar crime.
Embezzlement can be considered as a small crime as a store clerk pocketing a few amount of money
from the shop income. But it also can be as big as an excecutive of a big company allocating a
production funds into personal account, or maybe a politicians that is using a social funds for their
own personal benefit.

People with the intension to do this type of fraud are greedy. They will never feel satisfied to what
they get as a result of their work. They will start practicing embezzlement with a little amount of
money. Until they realize that they need more, not only for theirselves but also to pay people to be
shut.

The government and corruption eradication commission have tried numerous way and made lots of
law to stop this practices. But still, these embezzlement practicioners don’t feel the deterrent effect.
Public are fed up, and an assumption of death sentence emerged as the most effective way to solve
this problem.

Several countries are enforcing the death sentence. And in some countries it is not only for people
who commit heinous crime but also public officials with embezzlement, bribery cases, and
corruption. China is in the top 3 alongside Iran and Pakistan. The execution is a top secret so it is
hard to define the right number of the death. Political and economic crimes like embezzlement,
bribery, and corruption; official who take part in drug smuggling and human trafficking; are all
executed by the China government.

In Indonesia death sentence is actually exist. Based on constitution 1999 no. 31 article 2, death
sentences may be imposed in certain circumstances. If this really be implemented, it will give a shock
therapy for corruptors and they may be thinking twice for practicing an corruption and
embezzlement. This case is found everywhere, the doer can be anyone who has a chance to do it. It
also comes up from different level of society. And if this case is not handled well, what will our
country be ?. Poverty will never be gone, a pandemic will never end, country development will never
work well.

However, the death sentence is morally wrong. It is not suitable with the case that is exist. The death
sentence is usually imposed to a certain criminal cases, for instance a narcotics cases as referred in
constitution 2009 no. 35 about narcotics. So, in my opinion the death sentence as a result of social
funds embezzlement does not feel right because there are possibilities for other option of sentences
that is more humanity. Reimbursement, fine, or imprisoned are the examples.
