Praxis Core Exam Analysis

Exam Requirements
Passing the Praxis Core Exams is crucial in order to be accepted in certain colleges and

universities under an education degree. The Praxis Core exam scores are also a factor in earning

your teaching license. The passing score for the Reading 5712 test is 156, the passing score for

the Writing 5722 test is 162, and lastly, the passing score for Mathematics 5732 is 150. Each test

individually is $90, the three-test combined is $150. These tests can be retaken numerous

amounts of times within 28 days of failing.

Exam Preparation
There are many ways to prepare for the Praxis Core exam. There is preparation material on the

official praxis website, the Teachers Test Prep website, books about the Praxis exam, Quizlet,

YouTube, tutoring, etc. I personally did not really prepare as much as I should have before I took

the practice Praxis Core exam, but I did do some practice questions from ETS. I do believe that

the Praxis Core exams can be very difficult and need months in advance to prepare for. I did my

research about what exactly the exams are looking for in each individual test, to have a better

understanding of what will be expected for me to know.

Exam Results
In my math I scored at 56%, Reading 45%, and Writing 55%. These scores mean that I need

significant improvement when I take the official Praxis Core Exams. I found myself getting

bored throughout the test and found myself not taking the test seriously. This is not the example

that I want to lead by.

Future Exam Preparation

To further prepare myself to pass the exams I will take them more seriously. Meaning studying

for each test individually for a while until I feel confident that I will pass. I would want to work

with a tutor to help me pass the exams and use Praxis Prep websites that have been provided to

me. I will also look for more practice tests and time myself to make sure I am receiving the grade

I want, in the time necessary. I know that I did not score well in the practice exams, but I also

know that those scores do not define my potential to pass the real exam. If anything, the scores I

received from the practice test have motivated me to really study hard and really take my time

learning and bettering myself for when I do take the official exam.
