Opinion Matters 02:

How important Project Time Management in preparing bids. What are the

challenges? Present your opinion, solution and/or mitigation to the topic.

Our main goal in joining a Project Bidding is not just to win but to gain profit and

experience. Winning a bid without any profit is useless, having too much profit without

quality is even worst. There are many challenges in preparing bids such as

documentary requirements needed, stakeholders involved, judgement in the cost and

time estimates and time allotted in the preparation.

To address these challenges, bidding team should be organized to oversee the

bid preparation. A work breakdown structure for this purpose should be crafted to

delegate the activities to each team member. Through this work breakdown structure,

provide a catch up schedule based on the allotted time given by the procuring entity.

Monitor the schedule from time to time to address problems, risks and opportunities.

Aside from the bid preparation task, assign somebody to determine and investigate who

are the stakeholders of the project such as members of the Bids and Awards

Committee, the End Users and Signatories of the Project and others.
