I. OBJECTIVES:
1. Define and identify adjectives.
2. Recognize adjectives and give examples.
3. Use words that describe persons, places, animals and events adjectives in a sentence.

II. SUBJECT MATTER:


TOPIC: Recognizing Adjectives
VALUE: Appreciating God’s creation the way you look into it.
REFERENCE: Reaching New Heights through Language Mastery for Daily Use; pp. 161 - 165
MATERIALS: real objects, word bank, flip chart

III. PROCEDURE:
TEACHER’S ACTIVITY PUPIL’S ACTIVITY

Good Morning Class. Good Morning sir.

A. PASSING OF ASSIGNMENTS:
Before we start our lesson for This morning, I
want you to pass your assignments. (The pupils will pass their assignments.)

B. DRILL:
Class, I have here a box which contains words for
you to read. But you read it in a way of game. Our
game for today is called
“I read and I move forward.”
Each group must have a representative to
compete with other group in terms of reading. The
first player to read will step forward. If he is still the
first one to read again, then he will return to his
seats and his seatmate will be the one to compete
with others. The more readers to change will be
declared as winners and will be given a reward after
the class.
Do you understand class? Yes sir.
Very good.

C. REVIEW:
In your past lessons, you have discussed about
nouns. Isn’t it class? Yes sir.
So, what are nouns again class? Nouns are names of persons, places, animals and
things.
That’s right.
Now, from your assignment, I picked out these
terms for you to master what nouns are. And also, I
prepared treasure box for you to classify these
treasures according to: person, places, animals and
things. Just put them in the corresponding box.

D. MOTIVATION:
This time class, are you familiar with our
Province’s tourist spots? No sir.

Oh, sad to hear that. But don’t you worry,


because last night, when I was surfing in the
internet I was able to download some pictures of
our tourist spots here in Apayao and I made a flip
chart of it.
Want to see it class? Yes sir.
Okay class, I want you to take a look with these
pictures for two minutes, after which, I want you to
close your eyes and imagine that we are travelling
around our province and visit the different tourist
spots that we have.
Ready? Yes sir.
So here it is.
(After two Minutes.) Now, it’s time to close
your eyes. Imagine that we are now on our way for
fieldtrip.

Did you enjoy our field trip class? Yes sir.


What can you say about Apayao River? Apayao River is wide.
The water of Apayao River is blue.
Very good.
What about Lussok cave? The cave is beautiful.
The rocks are rough.
That’s right.
How about the Apayao Eco – Tourism and
Sports Complex? The swimming pool is wide.
There are lots of trees around it.
Excellent!
So, do you appreciate the tourist spots in our
province, class? Yes, sir.
Do you love it? Yes, sir.
In what way can you contribute in promoting the
tourist spots here in Apayao? By telling my friends to visit and have picnic here
sometime.

E. PRESENTATION:
What do you observe with these sentences you
have given earlier class? There are underlined words in a sentence.
Very good.
What do these underlined words do in the It describes the name of places.
sentence?
That’s right.

F. DISCUSSION:
Now, let us take this as an example for you to
understand our lesson better.

Apayao river is wide.


What word describes Apayao river, class? Wide.
That’s right.
So, in the given sentence, which is describes as
wide? Apayao river.
Very good. The word wide is used to describe
Apayao river. This is called adjective. Adjectives are
words use to describe a noun or a pronoun.
Here is another sentence.
Lussok cave is beautiful.
What is the adjective in this sentence? Beautiful.
What is described as beautiful? Lussok cave.
Excellent!

Activity:
Now class, using our word bank and the treasure
box, I want you to pick one word and use them in a
sentence.
Ex. white and egg
The color of the egg is white.
I use the egg and the word white.
Now it’s your turn. Yes, sir.
(The pupils will pick a word and a thing from the
treasure box and they will use them in a
sentence.)
What have you notice with the words in the
sentences that you have constructed during your
activity, class? The word tells about color, number, quality, size,
trait, taste and sound.
That’s right. All these words are also describing
words, they are all adjectives.

G. GENERALIZATION:
What are adjectives again, class? Adjectives are words use to describe a noun or
pronouns
Very good.
What values can we get using adjectives, class? Appreciating the creation of God the way we look
into it.
Very good.

H. APPLICATION:
Are you ready for your group activity, class? Yes, sir.

Group I: Read each sentences and identify the


adjectives by underlining them.

Group II: Pick five words in the word bank and treasure
box. Use them in a sentence.

I am MARK NEIL ANG GALUT, 26 years of age, with permanent address at Cabatacan, Pudtol Apayao. I am
expecting to finish my degree in Bachelor in Elementary Education at Apayao State College, Luna Campus on
March 30, 2015 and I’m proud to tell you that I received an award of Dean’s Lister and will receive two (2)
President’s Lister on recognition day.

I also finished my Two – Year Diploma Course in Computerized Office Management at Bestlink College of the
Philippines at Novaliches, Quezon City on April 21, 2009.

The trainings and skills I gained in the four years of schooling at the said institution, as well as my great
aspirations to teach might be one of the reasons for you to hire me as one of your colleagues.
