Parental Activity Plan: Day Four

Date: March 26, 2020

Age: 2 yrs. old

Theme: Flowers

Objective(s): At the end of the activity, the child/children will be able to:

1. Name two insects that like to fly amongst flowers


2. Tell what the bees suck from the flowers
3. Name their favourite insect that flies amongst the flowers

Activities: Circle Time

Name of Activity: We like flowers

Activity:

Introduction: Sing the song entitled “Pretty Painted Butterfly”

Pretty painted butterfly, what will you do all day?

I’ll fly amongst the beautiful flowers, with nothing to do but play.

Nothing to do but play, all the livelong day.

So Fly butterfly, so fly butterfly.

Don't waste your time away.


Activity

1. Have your child/children tell if he/she likes playing with flowers


2. Tell child/children that some insects and birds like to play amongst
flowers
3. Have child/children observe the picture and describe what is seen
4. Tell child/children that butterflies and bees are called insects
5. Tell the child what the bee does when he flies on the flowers
6. Allow your child to tell his/her favourite insect that was seen in the
picture

Activities: Creative Activity

Name of Activity: Fork Painting

Activity:

1. Give the child a sheet of plain paper. Provide at least three paper plates
with different colour paints (red, yellow, blue)

2. Provide the child with a fork and show the child how to hold the fork and
how to dip it in the paint
3. Instruct the child to press the fork with the paint onto the paper to make
a pattern

4. Wash the fork and repeat the same action until the child uses the three
colours.

5. Give the child a small paintbrush and provide some green paint.

6. Instruct the child to paint a stem at the bottom of each fork pattern

Display child’s/children’s work

Activities: Indoor/ Outdoor Play

Name of Activity: Flying amongst flowers

Activity: Parents will strategically place real flowers at different level (high,
medium and low) outdoors

Parents will instruct children about the activity.

The child /children will fly amongst flowers at different levels and at different
paces (fast/slow) pausing at each flower while listening to parent sing.

Parents will sing the song entitled “Pretty painted butterfly”

The words will be changed to accommodate bird and bee

E.g. Pretty little hummingbird, what will you do all day? (continue with the same
words as painted butterfly)

Pretty little bee, what will you do all day?


I’ll fly amongst the beautiful flowers, and suck from them their sweet juice.

Activities: Story Time

Name of Activity: “The Happy Bee” By: Ian Beck

Activity: Parent and child will sit in a comfortable reading position. Parents can
draw or collect their own pictures for the story to show the child while reading

Every morning the little bee flew from flower to flower.

And that made the little bee very happy
