225 kV Guinea-Mali Interconnection Project

Lot No. P6: Substation 225/30 kV of Beyla and Nzérékoré

International Tender document/PART 2 Requirements of the Project Owner
Section VII. Specifications

Appropriate installations must be provided for this purpose on the side of the transformer.

The fan motors and / or oil pumps or motor groups are controlled automatically by a combination of
relays which take into account the temperature of the winding and that of the oil. The criteria for
automatic «ON / OFF» switching operations shall be winding temperature (ON) and oil temperature
(OFF), respectively.

The control should be set so as to avoid frequent START / STOP operations for small temperature
differences. Timing relays should be provided to prevent the engine from stopping for at least five
minutes after starting.

The motors should be controlled automatically by series of contacts on the winding temperature
indicators, the oil temperature indicator in the upper part and the combination of relays, taking into
account both the temperature of the windings and oil temperature in the upper part.

The cooling units must not trigger the OFF when the temperature of the windings drops to values fixed
on the temperature indicator of the winding for switching the units ON, but they must trigger the OFF
when the temperature of the oil in the upper part drops below the values set for shutting down the
units. That is, the starting impulse for both groups should be given by the temperature indicators of the
windings, and the stop impulse, by the contacts of the oil temperature indicator in the upper part (c (i.e.
group 2 pumps / at 65 ° C and group 1 fans / at 55 ° C oil temperature).

All contactors of motors and their associated devices must be designed for the specified control
voltage and must be able to withstand and operate satisfactorily and without overheating for a period
of ten minutes if the supply voltage drops, during this period at 85% of the normal control voltage. It is
not necessary to provide auxiliary transformers for the control voltage.

The contactors must be protected by thermal and magnetic tripping elements. However, it is
necessary to provide motor protection switches with an adjustable setting range (approx. 120 - 150%
of the rated motor current) for each of the fan and pump motors. A group alarm must be initiated in the
event of failure of any fan; however, you must avoid stopping any other engine in the same group.

Electrical isolation of motor circuits must be ensured, to facilitate replacement or repair of individual
units while others are in operation. In addition, a main switch with alarm contact must be provided for
each group of fans / chillers.

Three-phase type voltage relays must be installed for the supervision of the voltage supply circuits.

Each of the fan groups and each oil pump must be provided with reversing switches with three
positions, namely for automatic, off and manual control.

The following alarm / signal triggering devices with NO contacts must be provided:

Grid power failure for each grid power source

3.2.2.7.1 ONAN/ONAF cooling

The fan motors must be connected to the starter contactors in two groups. Approximately 50% of all
cooling fans, including the specified additional fans, should be bound to each fan group. The specified
additional fans must not in any way be wired separately and they must work together with the other
fans during normal site operation. The first group (fans 1, 3, 5 etc.) will turn on at low temperature (i.e.
at a hot spot temperature of 7
° C) and the second group (fans 2, 4, 6 etc.), at a higher temperature (i.e. at a hot spot temperature of
85 ° C).

The control must be designed in such a way that, if the first group fails to start when the winding
temperature reaches the value set on the contacts of the winding temperature indicator, when the
second group starts up, following the raising of the winding temperature up to the higher set value, it
must cause the first group of fans to also start.

3.2.2.8 Terminals

3.2.2.8.1 General information

All bushings must have at least the same level of insulation as the bonded windings and / or neutrals.
For all winding terminals undergoing switching impulse tests, the air isolation distances between live

bushing flag lugs.

The Bidder / Subcontractor must include, in the supply of the busbar boxes, the junction box for the
busbar box actually needed and the transition elements to the transformer terminals, as well as the
electrical connections (by connectors cables and appropriate bus bars) between the conductors of the
shielded busbar boxes and the transformer bushings.

Neither the casing of the shielded busbar box, nor its electrical and other connections must exert
pressure on the adapter flanges and on the transformer bushings.

The manufacturer of the transformer shall provide, with the transformer, the appropriate grounding
studs, with bolts and washers, all in stainless steel, as determined by the Bidder / Subcontractor for
busbar enclosures.

Two suitable drain plugs will also be provided diagonally in an approved location on the bottom of
each box.
