Course Title Microeconomics


Course Code ENTR 105
Credit/Schedule 3 units/ 3 hours
Course Description This course is an introduction to economics. It focuses on basic economics concepts, economic systems, and elementary microeconomics.
This course includes a discussion of cooperatives in the Philippines, taxation, land reform, consumer education, and the buy-Filipino
movement.
Prerequisite / (Co-requisite)
Expectation Upon successful completion of this course, students will:
o Examine critically the types of economic systems;
o Distinguish the laws of supply and demand, and elasticity;
o Appreciate the economic policies and international trade;
o Analyze and understand the nature of economics.

Course Goals
After completing this subject, students will be able to:
 explain economic events in individual markets and the aggregate economy using basic economic theory and tools;
 outline the implications of various economic policies on individuals and on the economy;
 demonstrate competence in using simple diagrams, graphs to explain economic principles and their applications;
 appreciate how your individual decisions and actions, as a member of society, affect the economy locally, nationally and
internationally.

The numerical ranges for each number grade are as follows:
96-100 = 1
91- 95 = 1.25
87 - 90 = 1.5
82 - 86 = 1.75
78 - 81 = 2.0
73 - 77 = 2.25

Plagiarism:
The definition of plagiarism is passing someone else’s work (ideas, writing, concepts, theories, findings, etc.) off as your work without giving
proper recognition to the original source. Plagiarism in any form is considered grounds for serious discipline.

Attendance:
Students are allowed to be absent (excused or unexcused) only for 3 meetings. Beyond this, the instructor can drop you from the roll
without prior notice.

Submission of requirements:
Any requirement submitted late will be given a deduction of points equivalent to 10% of the perfect score. (i.e., perfect score is 100 points;
10% is 10 points. 10 points are automatically deducted from the scores of the requirement submitted late

Grading System:
70% Class Standing
30% Finals
Passing Grade: 60%

Missed exam(s):
Only students with valid reasons (sickness, death in the family) will be allowed to take make-up exam upon presentation of medical
certificate or letter of excuse from parents or guardian

Evaluation: Major exams (Midterm Exam and Comprehensive Final Exam) 40%
Class Standing (Quizzes, recitation, case studies, and assignments. ) 60%

FINAL GRADE = (MIDTERM+FINAL)/2

Passing Score 60%
