1) Name and describe your organization.

The organization I would really like to know more about would be Starbucks. I recently just
started working as a barista at Starbucks and would love to know more about the multi billion dollar
company. Lately I have seen more and more stores pop up where I live and they are in pretty much
every single grocery store. The Starbucks I currently work at has 4 other stores down the same street
and one in the same shopping center grocery store, yet we are still constantly busy! Almost everyone I
know cannot go a day without their favoriet beverage from Starbucks and I would like to study more
about the desire people have towards the company.

2) Describe your role in the organization (it can be an internal or external role).

My role in the organization would be the position of a finace manager in a Starbucks corporate
office. Finance managers are responsible for the fianical health of an organization. They create
financial reports, investment activies, and plan long term financial goals for an organization. I am
fascinated to learn how much Starbucks brings in and where most of their money comes from. Also
with what they invest in and plan for the future of the company.

3) Describe the situation, including information you think the will help the reader understand
the most important elements of the situation. (This will require selectivity: part of the art of case
writing is separating the essential facts from the mass of information that might be included).

Finance managers help the company as a whole and are the reason Starbucks is still around and
growing. Without the knowledge of what the company brings in as a whole Starbucks would not be a
multi billion dollar company! Investments in the company and their employees are important. As a
barista I would love to know more about how much Starbucks invests as a whole into their employees.
They offer so many great benefits for their full time and part time employees such as; health coverage
(medical, dental and vision), life insurance, disability coverage, vacation, tuition reimbursement,
employee assistance, commuter benefits, adoption assistance, free sportify, paid time off, free
drinks/food each shift, discounted stocks, 401K matching and more! How much do they really bring in
to afford all this and more!
