PROJECT RELECTION Saladino- EDU 214

Student Name: Christine Phan

Date: March 24, 2022

Artifact Name: Dream House – Using the shapes, text, polygons, rectangles, and drawing tools

to create a 2-dimensional layout of a house.

What you learned: Creating the Dream House Project was unique and interesting to do. At first,

thinking about what type of Dream House I would like to create was pretty simple, but once I

had started to create the dream house and tried to figure out where to start off, it was a lot harder

to do as well as a lot more work for this project. When I started to create the Dream House, I had

to do a lot of deleting lines and recreating a lot of the floor plan, so when I decided to use paper

and a pencil to draft out the Dream House before actually making the layout, I found it a lot

easier to do just because I was able to visualize how I would like my house to look like. Doing

the rough draft on a piece of paper, I started off by creating a 1-story house, but I decided to

change how I would like to create my Dream House and decided to make it a little more advance

and create a 2-story house. After completing the rough draft on paper, it was time to make the

house on Apple Page by using the tools that I know to my knowledge to create my Dream House

Project. I had a few adjustments to make and did some changes to my Dream House by deleting

lines and reorganizing everything to make sure it fits. Creating my Dream House took me longer

than expected, roughly about 8 to 10 hours to complete. Starting off the first floor took me about

5 hours to complete, and the second floor took me about another 3-4 hours to complete. After

creating my Dream House by using the tools, I got a well understanding of how to use the tools

as well as how to design something. Designing a house is not as easy as it looks, and it takes

time, visualization, and creativity to be put together to make it the right Dream House.

Application of Skills Learned for the Future: While creating my Dream House Project, I think

this was a great assignment to have included. Having the students do this assignment is a great

way to have them explore their thought and use their imagination on how they would like to

build their own Dream House. When students use their creative minds and think about their

Dream House and create a rough draft or a layout, it allows the students to be able to use

measurements, angles, and even shapes to create a unique layout. I believe this type of project

can be a group project or a 1 personal project to help the students use their creative thoughts to

bring their creative minds to visual work. After creating my Dream House, I can see myself

incorporating this type of assignment to kids to help them look into their inner thoughts and use

their minds as well as their knowledge of the shapes, text, and even the drawing tools to help

them bring their own Dream House to reality. Before having the students design their Dream

House, I would have the kids use their imagination and create a playgroup layout or create a

building and identify what they would like inside the building. It will help the students be able to

use their minds to create a story that they are able to bring to life in the future.
