MCD spreadsheets & fries

The directions on this assignment were clear and very understanding. The
spreadsheets overall were easy to create although I did encounter to problems during
completion of this assignment I stumbled to use the formulas to find the sum and
average for my spreadsheet. Another thing I stumbled on for spreadsheet was
learning how to label the sections (series ) on the pie chart with what each section
represented.

Standard #3: Knowledge Constructor: 3c: Students curate information from digital
resources using a variety of tools and methods to create collections of artifacts that
demonstrate meaningful connections or conclusions.

Technology has become more involved in students education daily and it’s important
for educators to know how to utilize applications and softwares that may be useful to
students. Creating spreadsheets in a classroom can be done for science projects or
even to make graphs with math data from a lesson. Spreadsheets can even be used
by a teacher to have her students names and parent contact information organized into
one spreadsheet.

Web Launchpad

I completed this web launchpad on my laptop and while I was trying to highlight my text
to view the hyperlink website I would have to double click and when I clicked hyperlink
my text would un highlight itself. It took me a few tries to complete the first two links
before I realized that it was much easier to select and highlight my text and instead of
double clicking to view the hyperlink page I could just use command + K definitely
would have wished I had realized this before stressing and screaming at my laptop.
One thing I struggled with but did not accomplish in my project was how to move some
of my object to the back of other object I managed to do it for some of my objects but
for others I was having a hard time moving shapes to the back and I decided to just
use plain text.

Standard #2 2c: Model for colleagues the identification, exploration, evaluation, curation

and adoption of new digital resources and tools for learning.

I think that I would incorporate what I learned today about hyperlinks into a
presentation slide. I can imagine my students perhaps creating a PowerPoint about a
research topic and to practice they would have to incorporate pictures from their
website sources and use the hyperlink method to attach the website/ resource they
used. Or even just for practice students can used in text quotations and citations and
incorporate the link they used on their in text citation that way teachds can easily check
for plagiarism on each slide.

Graffiti painting and fictional story

I have not had any experience drawing I’ve always been a bad artist but I learned that
a useful tip to utilize when completing this assignment is to import images of what you
want to draw. For example in my case the creatures tongue and bow and arrow. Use
this pictures as an outline for your drawing and then using the cut option on Microsoft
PowerPoint you can eliminate those drawings and you will only be left with your
drawing. I also learned that rather than clicking once on my objects that I want to move
I must click twice to prevent from moving my image as a whole.

Standard 6. 6B students create original works or responsibly repurpose or remix digital

resources into new creations.

This assignment would be perfect just the way it create your own monster and write
your own fictional story for an English classroom. Perhaps you can begin the lesson.
By reading your own creepy monster story to the class. Another way to adjust this to
the students grade level and age would be to give them a round template on
MMicrosoft PowerPoint with a monster already outlined and the students could just
include or add ion their own ideas.

Can o Your town

In the beginning of this activity I did not recall every seeing a Campbell’s soup can in
my house. I thought I could play it off by simply using a pinto bean soup can but shortly
I ended up at the store and decided to just buy a Campbell’s soup can which was
definitely not the same one as the one I had intended to use. One obstacle I have had
throughout this activity is importing images from the browser into the PowerPoint slide.
The Microsoft PowerPoint app that I used only has a limited selection of pictures that
are able to be used when using the online pictures offered through the app. I learned to
create different shades of colors of my preference using the color wheel available on
Microsoft PowerPoint.

Standard #1 Creativity and innovation, create original works as a means

of personal or group expression.

This activity was definitely creative and I must admit it was not an activity I would have
came up with myself. I can imagine this activity being used in a 5th grade level or
above. This assignment could be related to a history or government lesson about the
presidents. I believe it is in 6th grade where I was told to do a research report on one
president of my choice. This would be a great idea to include to that assignment,
having students create a soup can label about their president of choice and display
back on their soup cans during presentations.

Truss bridge

When I first began this assignment I had no idea what a truss bridge even was. I began
looking at side pictures of a truss bridge on google. I was still very confused as to how
I was going to create a 2 dimensional figure of a truss bridge. After comparing the
images on google and the examples provided to us on canvas I realized that I may
have just been overthinking the assignment. I started by opening up a new slide on
Microsoft PowerPoint software provided to me by CSN. I decided to began drawing a
couple lines on the inside of a trapezoid that I later converted into triangles. I was
experiencing a har time having both sides of my truss bridge look symmetrical and I
decided to use the copy - paste method to help make both sides equal. I also used my
professors technique to making my lines straight while holding down the shift key.
Although I am not sure if this exist in Microsoft PowerPoint but I hope to learn through
this class if there is a ruler for these specific drawings to ensure that the spaces
between the lines I have drawn are identical as well.

Standard 3 - 3c: Students curate information from digital resources using a variety of
tools and methods to create a collection of artifacts that demonstrate meaningful
connections and conclusions

I believe that this would be a great lesson that could be incorporated in a lesson
regarding angle measurement or making objects look symmetrical. After the students
replicate their bridges the teacher can then give the students a protractor and with the
help of their classmates they can measure the angles of each shape they created to
ensure that all areas are symmetrical. Depending on the grade level students can be
expected to replicate other drawing at different difficulty levels. During the process of
watching videos on how others created 2 dimensional and 3 dimensional bridges I
came across a video of a person replicating other architecture designs. I believe that
replicating other architecture designs would be a great addition to this assignment.

Your Classroom - Using drawing tool found in Microsoft PowerPoint

to draw a bird’s-eye view of my desired future classroom layout

After reading the directions of this assignment I began t brainstorm some ideas of how
I imagined my classroom layout to be. After completing my field observations for my
general edu courses last semester I still had some classroom layout examples for the
previous classrooms I volunteered in. I decided to begin by drawing the most important
thing the students desk and chairs. I than recalled that in an elementary classroom like
the one I wish to teach they utilize center activities so I new I needed a few center
tables. Small group tables for teaching are very essential in a classroom so I decided
to include one as well. The hardest part about this assignment was rotating my shape
and having them all align similarly. Sometimes instead of rotating the shape I would
end up enlarging the shape and I would constantly use the back button in Microsoft
PowerPoint. Another part of this assignment where I stumbled upon was picking 20
names for each desk suddenly and surprising my mind couldn’t remember any names.

Standard #4 (4b): Students select and use digital tools to plan and manage a
designprocess that considers design constraints and calculated risks.

I imagined this assignment being give to my students during career week. I removed
career week growing up in my elementary school and basically each day you learn
about a new career and teachers welcome visitor to come in and talk about what their
jobs consist of. During one of these day a student can be asked to think about what
career they would like to pursue when they get older ( office jobs, teacher, veterinarian,
firefighter, etc ) and replicate what their workstation would look like through the use of
basic shapes on Microsoft powerpoint.
This assignment will allow student to expand their knowledge about working with digital
technology and give them the opportunity to visualize their ideas and see them come
to life.

Dream home - Design a basic floor plan for your dream house using
a simple drawing application and its tools.

When I first began this assignment I had no idea how I wanted my dream home to be it
was definitely something I had not thought about thoroughly prior to this assignment.
I used Microsoft powerpoint as I am more comfortable with this software for most
presentations and other assignments but its definitely not the same when only using
lines and shapes. My biggest frustration was rotating my shapes and making my lines
appear straight. I would struggle rotating my shapes because most of the time I would
either minimize or enlarge them.

Standard 4:Innovative Designer: 4a: Students know and use a deliberate design
process for generating ideas, testing theories, creating innovative artitacts or solving
authentic problems.

This project teaches the students how to use the basic drawing tools in different
application and how to use them to create or design something. I agree that this is an
interesting assignment that can be give to students inside a classroom. This
assignment can also be adjusted to the students grade level. For example if the
students is in a middle school grade level you can expect for them to include specific
entry door or a specific amount of bedrooms. If the student is in a higher grade level
you can expect the student to create a backyard image as well.
